quick question, is there a switch on the charger to select 4.2v or 7.4v

you need to set the charger to its voltage output ie 4.2 or 7.4. volts.

Do you have a lipo alarm/tester , its a little device that plugs onto your battery and tells you how much voltage is in the battery

and then each cell in the battery is read out to, so a 7.4 battery would read

cell 1 - 3.8v

cell 2 - 3.8v

total volt 7.6v

a battery checker/alarm would be a very handy item for your toolbox and to help you check batterys

before charging to see what state they are in. it also gives you a reading of each seperate cell inside the battery.

the alarm can be set to a certain voltage ie : 3.7v

when any cell in the battery gets to 3.7v the alarm will make a buzzy beeping, very loud to.

i had a case of a 7.4 battery, it was missing its balance lead and was taped up somewhat by another rc hobbyist.

popped my alarm onto it for a check and the alarm went crazy, cell 2 was at 0v,

tested the second battery and both cells measure 1.1v alarm going crazy.

BALANCE LEAD.

this is a small set of wires that leave the battery, they are wired in such a way the charger can read them as single cells.

this lead is BEST plugged into the charger to, it allows all the cells in the battery to be charged alone all at once.

SOME cheap chargers do not come with a balance lead port, and can cause problems because they read a full voltage

and not each cell on its own . Most new owners become tired of the cheap chargers and will upgrade to one that delivers

everything you need.
