nr73
Just finished making a few changes to my Slash 2wd. I really felt it was quite slow out of the box, and didn't have much torque at all, plus the tyres didn't give much grip on dirt. So I just fitted a turnigy 3520kv brushless with the 80a ESC. Also a set of Stampede wheels and tyres came up in the sales section a week ago so I picked those up, and they've helped give it the stance I was looking for. I've raised the body mounts to their highest position, might run into clearance issues but I'll see how it goes and raise it some more if I need to. I was disappointed that the steering endpoints aren't adjustable on the TQ radio, they could do with being reduced ever so slightly but I'll manage. Also the motor mount is a bit of a faff, and the ESC being raised up on some edged fins is a problem when you need to fix a replacement ESC down with some sticky pads. I've left it on the 16t pinion for now because I only have a 23t, and coupled with the tyres that could be a bit too tall. I've just given it a quick run on 2s and blimey what a difference. It now picks up it's skirt and shifts nicely!
bertberr
Looking good... I think bigger MT style wheels/tyres make for a better general purpose basher and jumper. I fitted 2.8 badlands to my Torment SCT and I much prefer it for bmx / skate park duty. Think you'll find the stock pinion is 19 not 16t, with a 90t spur, 23 pinion and 86 spur come in bag. My torment came stock on 24/87 with a 3300kv motor, which was fine with the SCT tyres but I put in a 19t shortly after moving to the bigger tyres, as it was running quite hot with the 24t. On the 19 it ran a lot cooler, think it could probably take a 21 or 22 without issue, so I guess you'd probably be ok with 21/90 on yours. See what the temp gun says. nr73
It's definitely on a 16/90, but it did come with the additional 23/86 in the bag too. Must have been changed at some point before I bought it I guess.
