Dromida/Ripmax Thread (1/18)

Hey guys, wondering if anyone else has decided to get one of these.

I got one to mess about with when my bigger models are broken/being repaired. I was pondering getting this or the Animus, they are basically the same model but the Dromida has a cooler body (short course that is).

I have decided I am going to upgrade it to brushless so lots of bits coming my way, but I installed a Savox servo first to replace the stock.

Stock this car is very fun, corners perfectly and has enough speed for a beginner.

HSP/Helion animus spares will fit apart from axles and diffs, but I may upgrade to the animus diff and axles and install 12mm hexes.

Anyway, if anyone else has one, feel free to chime in, they are cheap at

Mine is now brushless with a team Orion 1/16 motor, had to do a bit of grinding here and there but fits nicely.

Will take pics soon, its super fast. Got alum shocks and upgrade drive train kit.

Also a load of HSP 1/18 alum bits to convert it to 12mm hex.

PICS. suitability for a 4yr old? Userbility for off road parts search links and more pics please inc radio.

I like the look of the shell but would rather a clear shell to paint it up girly tho. Also would the Latrax sc body fit mayb the wheels too if traxxas used the same materials as they would the 1/16 trucks.

Yeah this can be the general Dromida thread.

Usability for a kid is great, very tough truck.

With mine brushless it goes like a rocket and can smash into curbs without breaking anything, the wheels are a little fragile but work fine.

I need to post pics soon, keep forgetting.

This truck is a lot of fun, parts are easy to source from wheelspin models.

You can get clear body's for them too

Yeah this can be the general Dromida thread.

Well actually I don't have a Dromida, but I do have a Ripmax Coyote, which appears to be exactly the same as the Dromida DB4.18.  The body is painted different obviously, and the Ripmax version does not have adjustable camber links (although mine does now) but everything else seems exactly the same

I'll be giving a bash around my local club track on Sunday, I may even decide to race it if it feels like it will be fairly competitive :first:

it will eat the brass pinion. On brushless power that's what happened. Metal on metal = more wear. and the pinion is the softer metal. I'm sticking with the plastic, works fine for me, and they are cheap to replace, cheaper than replacing the pinion all the time anyway.

I actually raced my Desert Buggy yesterday at Manor. It didn't go too well but for a toy, it shows promise. I doubt I'll never be on the pace with it but I can be pretty close once I get the suspension working as I like and once I get the right tyres on

With some 1/10 touring car wheels (not much bigger than stock wheels) grips a lot better, does wheelies on demand now :) and new motor coming soon should be better as cooler running temps with the new pinion too.

looks a little monster truck ish

look at rc 18t buggy shells they can be cut to fit the chassis mounts.

rear wing will be a problem finding mounts, so look at the rear and front towers of rc18t/b

and see if they resemble the drom/ripmax ones. you maybe able to shoehorn a nice buggy shell on.

running a buggy shell will pump that rear end down so stiffen it a tiny fraction with oil/spring.

droop the front a tad to bring that high nose down a tad . i bet that front is like a scrabbling squirel round a tree

wild at times but can be tamed with concentration and ninja reflexes. my rc18t truck was like this until i gave it a race setup

run some carpet slicks on some 1/10th rims for indoor hooning, and outside go for a grippy road set.

for off road use a popular off road tread tire.

MILD brushless, dont be throwing in a sidewinder and mini mamba it will eat the diff gearing, spur and rear drive cups.

I believe tgis to be the same model but I am still yet to confirm 100% (it's what he has anyways)

The hsp bits don't fit, got the hubs and everything but too narrow and dogbones are too short.

Yes the front is a little wild, again I use it for bashing so not really a problem, but thanks for the heads up, might try a little droop to be honest. The front really lifts under acceleration, and the new motor i'm getting is tamer than whats in it at the moment, diffs seem to be holding up fine.

Almost lost a wheel today, came flying off so had to thread lock the nuts on this time.
