Honeybadger
Hi, im just after peoples opinions on which would be a better car to convert. I have a Hyper with a dead engine and needing a rebuild anyway and a mint condition second hand Savage i picked up on saturday which i could pinch the engine out of for the Hyper. As im selling my Blitz i still want one brushless car. Edited November 24, 2014 by Honeybadger
Wrighty8766
a standard hyper can take the extra power of brushless without any upgrades whereas the savage drivetrain will suffer and need upgrading to the HD gears and beefier dogbones etc Costwise a hyper is the better alternative, it is also a much better basher in my opinion! The savage is good for 'go anywhere' bashing and in my experience will break easier when in destructo mode
evssv
If u go with the savage I'll b interested in ur hyper roller....
Nitroholic
The conversion for the Hyper is simple: Swap the centre diff mount for the brushless motor mount, add in a battery tray and find a new home for the radio .... job done. Conversion for the Savage is NOT simple. Aside from sorting out a motor mount, you will need to replace the centre gearbox internals and ditch the 2 speed for single speed. Otherwise it will break, and you won;t have reverse. Then .... depending on the spec of Savage .... you will have to upgrade various bits of the drivetrain from diffs through dogbones and drivecups. Then you will need a pair of battery boxes. You will also really need a beefier motor/ESC setup for the Savage to get the best out of it compared to the Hyper. Both can be converted, but in all honesty.....the Hyper is cheaper and easier to do, whereas the Savage will need more investment in terms of parts and is a slightly more involved conversion if your donor is not a late model X with the HD driveline and bulletproof diff setup. Both make good cars when converted.....but a half-hearted Savage conversion will just break a lot.
Honeybadger
Thank you everybody. Looks like the Hyper is the one to do, i was thinking it would be but was interested in what others thought.
atom3624
I've decided - after I converted my LST2 / Raminator to brushless - that MT's are better nitro - just seems 'right'. Buggies can be anything. Al.

Ended buying a Savage Flux HP roller and cannibalising best bits from both. Edited November 24, 2014 by ninjagaiden
