TTshadowTT
i was wondering if anyone could explain something to me, i have a radeom 6490m dedicated gpu chipset in my mac, on my mac it says its 256mb, but everywhere i look on the internet it either states as being 512mb or 1gb vram gddr5 this does not make sense to me, would love it if some tech guru could explain this
danb1974
The video memory is not in the radeon chip but as separate memory chips around it.
cerbrus2
There are two types of M chips the M standing for Mobile. One is a GDDR5 chip with its own built in 512mb-1gb memory and the other Shares systems DDR3 memory. this is probably the chip you have. There should be some way of adjusting the shared memory size. But being a Mac Probably not. (usless shiny boxes) ask on a Mac forum if there is a way.
