TA-04

did have a tub like chassis, where this is a flat pan, could be an upgraded ie the TA-04 Pro , or

a stock TA04 with some added extras.

looking at your picture i would say the rear drive belt is also worn and has some stretch to it.

your missing the front belt,so replace both of these.

Drifting, any car will drift if it has a good torque pickup and is SET UP to drift.

stock you will have the 4x4 style drift ( like a scoobie - mitsy none rally car) its the starting place to learn.

once you have this skill trained ie throttle control and steering balance, you will want a more real like feel.

to gain real like drive drifting you need what we call a 1.5 mod, we want the rear output to be 1.5 ratio,

but the front drive to have  a 1 ratio , here we change out the drive belt pullys to adjust the power ratio to the front and rear.

we need a little drive on the front end but most from the rear so it lets go more easy.

in NONE drift mode, you have a nice entry race chassis throw in a race legal 27 turn motor and a suitable battery and you can go racing.

just a swap of tyres to something more sticky and less slippy. its not going to be a top of the range chassis, but it will teach a young driver

control on throttle and steering and will take a good clout or two into the side rails. when he wants more power it is a motor upgrade to brushless

and a upto 40% power boost.

Radio system is fine but in a club you may get problems, it is a crystal handset so they do pick up a little interferance on 27mhz band,

nothing to worry about as nearly everyone is running digital signal transmissions. should be fine for messing around with.

I'd say it's a clone looks abit like the ta04 but ta04 never had belt cover & never used the front arm set up like your there's used track rods . It looks like kyosho ish to me by the msc / resistor an the look of the plastic , front shocks look to be from a tamiya . Google imige old rc car I'm sure one will pop up. I've never seen one before in 35+ yrs in this hobby. Good luck getting it running. Take the msc out an see if you can see an name on it or if a k on the chassis anywhere. I know kyosho an the cheap brand bymco used that type of msc . Hobby co back in the day cloned few tamiya chassis styles but they used different grade plastic too an added one thing to make them look different .
