It's a Wraith then

Decided on a Wraith, next decision is RTR or kit, I know very little about these machines so with the knowledge I have from 1/8 buggy and truggy it would be a kit as most RTR's need upgrades out the box, unless anyone tells me different?

What you reckon?

If a kit what esc and motor would you go for?

Thanks

Kit is definitely the way to go, there are a couple bits I would upgrade as you build and they would be

Metal steering links, VP or RC4WD

Metal gears for the centre box, Robinson Racing or Hot Racing

Convert over to 32dp spur, using a Traxxas 56t Slash spur and a 11t pinion

Alloy servo horn, I use a small Answer RC one

And if budget allows get MIP centre shafts

Also the shocks can be a bit hit or miss, some have issues with leaks and some don't lol

Then replace/upgrade stuff as you break it

Electrics wise...

A decent 27t brushed motor Tamiya/Team Brood/Holmes Hobbies

Brushed ESC to run 3s, the stock Axial Esc can run 3s fine if used with a external BEC or Holmes Hobbies BRXL

20kg+ servo

And a BEC of some sorts

3s lipo of standard size, I run a Gens Ace 3000mah 25c and get up to around 1.5hrs run time
