Hi all, I have gave up on my shocks! Just can not get them to stop leaking all over! ( please don't ask)

So I am going to buy a new set, and am just wondering what to buy and where from.

It is to go on a fg 4wd off road beetle( not monster )

Yes thought of that. The problem is I'm not sure this is a full kit. I think it has been put together. The pistons don't seem to fit flush with the bodies there is a little movement there, also when the piston is fully compressed the little nut on top of the piston pushes the bladder off and then the shocks leak from the top.

I have had someone else look at them as well ( not specialised but knows a bit about nitros ) and he agrees.

Maybe I am missing something.

I will post another picture when I get home of the shock fully compresed.

Fg shocks always seem prone to leaks, even fully rebuilt shocks on my race car don't last long before needing new seals although shock socks are certainly helping. Imo the best shocks I have used are hormann tk shocks, rarely had any trouble with them although they wouldn't be cheap.

Here is a picture of my shock. As you can see the piston is at the fully up position in picture 1 you can see the nut on top of the piston.

And here is the picture with bladder in place, the piston is not at its full but is touching the bladder, so when at it's fully in position it pushes the bladder off.

I only 'bash', but mine have always been topped up when I get round to servicing / replacing / trying damping alternatives - Comp 04 8-shock MT.

I don't run anything like as much as Animal and Mike it must be said.

Defo look at what OHO said - new O-rings, bushes.

Al.
