New Macstar 28 odd running noise

See video for engine noise. Halfway through my car lost signal and drive off the bank and fell 6 feet into the road, not a mark and still running, that's why there is a long section of nothing. Skip to end to hear it when really hot

I have run it in and tuned it for slightly rich. Temps get up to 140 Celsius which I think is too hot but I can't go any richer.

Optifuel 25% RTR and a hpi medium cold plug, fitted after run in. Had same issue on medium plug.

Any help guys.

if your running with optifuel RTR, then it will still emit plenty of smoke even when lean, you cant tune by smoke with that fuel.

I used to use it when i first started in the hobby, but went to the Race mix which was loads better, no where near as smokey. I now use VP Powermaster fuel, my engines run better and a touch cooler too.

Ok should I change fuel then?

I've turned the low speed out a little and it stopped pinging, still bellows of smoke from standstill throttle, flat out still gives a lot of smoke and I was hitting 150 Celsius with what I feel is still to rich. No lean bog yet so may try turning the hsn in a touch more.

I did notice one thing, listening closely to he engine I can hear a hissing air sound, I sprayed some wd40 while running (cool) and it starved the engine a little when it hit round the carb area. The engine has been sealed but by the previous owner who had run 2 tanks through at idle then stored it.

Should I be looking at re sealing the engine?

150c is likely too hot for your engine, but i would get confirmation off someone with your engine, as i have never run a hyper engine before.

A would change fuel, as like i said, if will bellow out smoke even when very lean. The Optifuel race mix is good, (less oil, so less smokey, runs cooler and more power) it's just that i prefer VP fuel or RB fuel. It just depends on what's available locally to you.

Won't do any harm resealing the engine if you suspect an air leak

I read up it's apparently a hot engine.

The only fuel available local is model technics, and they have to order in 25% the guy in the shop told me that's too high for general use! they recommend 16% I took it with a pinch of salt because he went on to say everybody runs electric now. I didn't see one current electric rtr buggy in his shop!

Would model technics 25% be ok to use from now on, Byrons is too expensive for me.

I actually have a new OS8 plug but will wait until my McCoy MC9 plug gets here to try it as it's recommended by hobao.

Model technics make numerous blends of fuel, only 3 of which i would use (if i had no other choice), BigBang, Zzip and Dynaglo, the rest seam unsuitable for cars or have too much oil content ( i prefer 9%-11%).

You can get fuel delivered from most model shops like Modelsport or here
