LVC and lipo

Right I got my first Lipo and have charged it at rate of 1.....so now it's ready to roll.

I have set my LVC to it max 3.4v/cell.....its a 3c lipo so the book tells me not to go below 9v so I assume the setting of 3.4v Will cover it as I assume it's 3.4 x 3 making a total 10.2v....?

Correct. Just be aware that not all ESC lvc's are 100% accurate, in that they over read cell voltage (hobbywing in particular).

When you plug in to store/recharge, see what the charger is telling you the individual cell voltages are, then adjust the lvc accordingly if required :)

What Noj is saying is that you might find it cuts early. You'll know this if your supposedly empty 5000mah pack is only taking 3000mah to refill it. A new 5000mah pack should take anywhere from 4800 to just over 5000mah from empty.

There is advice out there that says not to run lipos this low.

On my hobbywing ESC I had it setup at 3.4v and it would cut off at 3.6v. After lowering it to 3.2v I haven't had any problems. I really only race now so lvc off isn't really needed as my cells never go below 3.70v as I chamge them otherwise the performance goes off a noticeable amount.

Mine is a dhk racing 3200mah 3c 20c lipo, it's first charge took just over 3200, so if it was discharging and hitting the LVC and then go to recharge the pack, what charge would you expect I.e. would I see something like 2000 mah charge or should it take a full charge each time?

A fully charged, individual cell will read 4.2v.

Never leave a lipo fully charged for longer than 24hrs, as the cells will begin to degrade. Lipos should be stored at 60% capacity, which is 3.8v per cell. :)

When you think what lipos go though while in the car they are built to take a bit of a bash so when you're masted charging as long as your not stupid you should be fine.

That will be fine. You don't want to leave it much after 1 day.

Oh.....charged late last night...well midnight, not going to use till tommorow lunchtime.....at 1 1/2 days??????? Is that going to ruin it?

No, they don't just ruin overnight :)

What Noj was saying was if you leave them for long periods either above or below the recommended storage charge capacity, the cells start to degrade and will shorten your run times and also I believe punch? (could be wrong on that one)

Longest I personally leave a LiPo full if I charged them the night before a bash and it rains or something is 3 days, I know everyone does it differently but mine all charge full and perform top notch so I just stick with it lol.

But again, lots of LiPos and not lots of chargers so you have to pick your battles :P

From empty that pack should take approximately 2800 to 3000mah.

I thought it was permanent degradation, as in won't be as punchy/powerful ever again. I abuse mine, leave em up to a week fully charged but have noticed they're definitely not as good as they were and I don't run that many cycles through em.

is a lipo buzzer worth having? if so is it worth getting one that can read each cell or jus ta total pack...I am assuming although my LVC is set to 3.4v/Cell its only monitoring the pack as a whole not actually an individual CELL....also in a hours time I am about to head out to the park in my lunch time to see what the new `3200 3s 20C Lipo' does over my `7.2v 3000mah NiMH's'...

...hopefully it will seem like a rocketship at full chat with it screaming its nuts off....LOL.....knowing me I'll floor it rip the teeth of the diff gear then pack up and go home..LOL
