Gazlam
Hello friends. I've been wanting to get a 1/5 scale ever since my friends whom I bash with made me feel rather under dressed for the occasion with my 1/8 scale and because of their generosity of letting me take their 1/5's for a spin and not wanting to give the transmitter back to them and breaking their pull starts....... lol @ Nick so....... I just got myself a Losi 5ive and loving it. I was aiming for a KM or even Rovan as that was in my budget but one very well sorted Losi was offered at a price I couldn't refuse after a long night of negotiations. I picked it up yesterday and I'm extremely happy with it. Its had a few upgrades and I'm planning a few for the future. The shell really isn't in great shape but that doesn't bother me in the slightest as I know a few tumbles and falls are in the cards and I can drive it like I stole it! I was out bashing today in a fire break deep in the forest and there is a nice hump there and was getting some good air. I was very impressed the way the car flies and how well balanced it is! Over all I couldn't be happier! Over the next couple of months I'm hoping to add some nice bits but probably wouldn't change the shell Waiting for my remote kill switch to arrive so I can bash in a better spot to Edited September 2, 2014 by Gazlam

Feedtheinferno
Looks good dude! A few little things that I can see you would want to do but other than that it's going to be awesome racing against another 5 again! How are you finding the speed of the standard engine so far? Its not to bad at all. Plenty usable power. No where near as quick as my Nitro rail but I'm very happy. Have ZERO regrets

I think that's the first mod on my list [emoji3] After that I shall just hop up when things break or wear and tear.
Feedtheinferno
The pipe really will make a difference dude. Also in regards to wear, you should after a few months of bashing in this dust we are running in replace all the bearings on the car. Normally you could leave it longer but I would suggest a few months because you don't know the history of them and it's best to put good fresh ones in there Also gives you a chance to practice taking it apart.

Agreed. A freshen up will be very worth while. I'm really amazed at the price of parts. Very affordable and available everywhere. There were a few stripped threads that I already sorted out. Other than that. I really can't fault it. Its a very easy car to work on, I'm very impressed with the build quality.
Feedtheinferno
Yeah well I am going to be buying a new bearing kit soon from freeprawn so if you want to join me I could always order two and save us both on postage. Nothing like saving money! Won't be until around Christmas though as I don't like to re-build until then.
Gazlam
Losi is nearly ready for Saturday. Kill switch ordered thanks to Feedtheinferno and Jolly_roger_uk. Had to fix more stripped threads today. Freshened up the XTM nitro rail for Saturday as well. Happy days Edited September 4, 2014 by Gazlam

Feedtheinferno
Run those cables out the bottom of the RX box bud, there is a little hole made for them otherwise they will be damaged by the box lid, I can already see the indentation

Only going to run it like that till I get the dual servo mod. Its very neat but not to my taste. As soon as my new parts arrive I will perfect it. Feedtheinferno
Fair enough bud, honestly if experience tells me anything. You are better going for a larger single servo for steering rather than the dual steering setup - just for reference of course. I am not trusting the dual setup in my new 5ive with the 70cc so I am going with a 1/4 scale single servo setup. Much more reliable and easier! Gazlam
Nice. Thanks for that. I'm going to be getting a new battery/servo tray as it is cause this ones a bit tatty. Got lots to chat with you about tomorrow though. Lots of parts I'm thinking of ordering to get this beauty to a great level so most the work I've carried out has been a temp measure until I figure out where I'm going with it. I'm thinking a clear body, sprayed monster green, with monster decals. I'm really happy I got this losi, its performance is second to none. I really can't believe how well it flies through the air. Feedtheinferno
OK bud we can talk tomorrow. I am sure we can come to some sort of plan based on what you want to get out of it. But yeah there is so much in the way of choice I am sure you will be able to make it how ever you like!

I'm having with draw symptoms being away from my losi [emoji3] , I'm away on a course for the next 3 weeks but will be coming up on the weekends. As soon as I'm done with these courses, I'm going to build a ramp down at the site as I'm only a minutes drive away [emoji106]
Feedtheinferno
What we really need to do as discussed the other day is have a hour or so clearing the rocks and branches from the 3 hillclimbs so we can have more fun with those!
