hi smurf .

the reason why all the info you found seems to point at a very few things.

this is because most engines are a copy-clone of the zhenoa engines,

these beasts are used in very large scale aircraft, and in your large scale buggys and trucks.

now 9-10 times , its fuel - carb - sparkie gear.

and i bet you checked all and its set correct.

now i would hinge my bet on those cheapy carbs they shove on those engines

they aint no walbro twin, float chamber can become clogged up, this causes lower fuel rate flow

and problem starting. sticky needles / broken needle

now a sticky/broken needle will cause big problems starting. one mo it wants to fire the next it does nothing at all.

you adjust needle valves and nothing seems to happen but the valve screws in and out.

when you fully close a valve needle it should not be tight down. you close it until you feel that bite happen as it seats

then you adjust outwards.

the only thing i can say is a carb re-build, its something we gardeners do alot to our weedeater engines.

taking the carb apart giving it a good clean with petrol and a wash out with fuel, a re-build and install.

but for you i think its vital to check the needle valves are good and not bent/snapped.

THEN forget the chinglish instructions on tuning, use the zenhoa carb settings

and work from there,

also a very small drop of fuel into the sparkplug hole and the engine pulled over can sometime help

that inital first cycle suck bang blow

ok a carb rebuild is the last thing I wanted to get into, but looks as tho im gonna have to give it a go ill check both needles make sure they are ok and go off the zenhoa carb settings,

thankyou tamiyacowboy

One of the easiest thing to try first is replace the spark plug.

You can remove the current plug and it can appear to spark outside of the engine but not once it is in.

It might not be that but it is always worth having a few spare ones to hand just to eliminate that part quickly before you start rebuilding other aspects

Also will a walbro wt-990 crb fit yama buggy, and is it really necessary to buy new carb as it was working 2 days ago, as I said I cant get it working and as the needles hi lo settings are so sensitive it needs someone with more experience than me to resolve issue

Very defeatist :)

Try a new plug at the very least.

I had problems galore when I first ran petrol, after a while it was so easy it was a joke.

The good thing I found was that even if the carb adjustment was out most of the time it would still start.

ALL the starting issues I ever had were down to the plug.

It would go through at least one plug per run,I found in the end that it was the air filter that was dirty and somehow was fouling up the plug,

After every run I cleaned the air filter and never had a plug failure again.

A quick test with the plug is to take it out, wire brush the electrode to clean it up a bit, then use a blow torch or lighter to really heat it up, not so hot that is it turns red but hot! Stick it back in and pull it over and see what happens. I have started many stuborn strimmers, hedge trimmers and mowers this way. If it does fire, then stick a new plug in it.
