1/10 buggy for possible racing

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Well I've talked the Mrs into getting me an R/C for Christmas! (I know its early but she likes to plan ahead!).

Anyway want a kit to build really it's been a while since I've built a kit! The buggy will be used for bashing about but might want to go racing with it in the future. Been looking around and there doesn't seem to be many models about. Like the Team C Lupuz but many company's have stopped selling it. Is this the quite period before Christmas and company's start releasing new models soon?

Want to go 2wd, budget is around

Track will probably be astro and hopefully some in door carpet.

Get the feeling I'm opening up alot of if, but's and maybe here. Been looking at the Durango DEX210 I know I wanted a kit but with a 13.5 Brushless installed it looks a good deal?

The 210 is excellent value, and if you plan on racing it 'practically' a kit. For racing you'll want it to be mid motor, but the RTR is built as a rear motor. That means you'll need to strip down and rebuild the back end before use, making it a 'kit' of sorts. Almost all the parts needed are included - it just needs the 4 gear idler gears and bearings. Total cost about

You might want a faster motor 10.5 down and you will most likely change your electric system later on down the line for something a little faster. The 210 is a great deal but I would look second hand, there are some great bargains to be had on oople for atr and rolling chassis. I've seen people sell upgraded 210 for

Stock servo is ok, waterproof too. Esc works down to 9.5t but doesn't run boost so will still be a bit slow.

I had the same ESC was ran hot with a 10.5, that might be down to my driving style or the ESC I'm not sure.

Going Second hand seems a good idea. I'll have to look into it, the DEX210 has my interest now it doesn't have many negative reviews.

As for the electronics budget, I have a transmitter, servo, lipos etc....I also have a 60amp 9t brushless system I could use.

What moderate priced brushless system would you guys advise as a start up? I don't want to spend hundreds before I've started.
