NITRO ISSUE

hi all still a little new to nitro cars, i have a dhk optimus gp and seem to be using a lot of nitro, car seems to be running ok but from some vids I've been watching on the tuning of a nitro engine seems like I've not got enough smoke out of the exhaust yet which means i need to richen the fast needle abit more but then this would mean i would be using more fuel? or also would the car use more fuel if the idol screw is open to much but still keep and idol?.

what do you mean by using to much fuel. 

 

ok lets do some quick checks, very simple but we can find out if the car is running to rich.

when a car has to much fuel going in and not much air mixing in, the car CAN smoke alot.

not will but can, this is different for every engine. 

 

so pick up you machine, and smell the exhaust outlet, does it smell

oily like ? 

do you notice when the car is running if it spits liquid out from the exhaust,

this may be a dribble when you pick up and tip car, or its like a fine mist spray all over the rear of the car and where exhaust exits shell.

THESE are two pure signs the car is running a to rich mix, so it needs taming down a little ( you adjust the flow rate for the fuel ).

 

Tuning , is adjustment of the flow rate of the fuel and the air mix going in. when tuning your wanting maximum compression and ignition

but using a low amount of atomized fuel and air .
the seasonal weather affects our nitro models to. summer tuning will not work for winter, so you will find in winter a car is much harder to start

for one the cold and the second is the fuel air mix, to much air ( winter the air is colder and more dense than summer ) so you tend to buff the fuel rate a tad,

when your really wanting a little less air mix. 

 

 

if you can pop outside, start up truck and take a video, upload and post here so guys can hear your nitro running and take off 

and come to idle. the sound is so distinctive they can tell if its to rich or to lean.

thanks for fast reply.

can't take car out at min cause it is raining heavy, but had it out yesterday and i seemed to use a lot more fuel than my brother but like u said he's is a different model, yesterday i really noticed an oily mist all over the back and spoiler of the car like it was lightly coated in oil. also once it first starts it firstly revs then dies down but does this very quickly . also sounds quite load when at idol.
