sd66sd Posted August 23, 2014 Author Share Posted August 23, 2014 They put a lot of strain on other components coursing other parts to break. yeh i see what you are saying but iam upgrading almost everything to carbon fiber or luminum so i don't see it being a problem if you have ever had a sprint 2 chassis in your hands striped down it has far to much flexibility! RCbutcher Posted August 24, 2014 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Alloy arms will be fine for drifting I doubt you'll hit the speeds needed to bend one or ripp it off. Alloy arms have a deserved disheartened reputation but alot of the time the guys haven't actually used alloy arms but it is well known they fail and could damage the weakest part connected to them. I think you'll be sweet with an alloy drifter tho as long as you dont go for big speed and bounce off things. Clippling things while dridting wont hurt them. I used alloy gpm or grp I forget arms on my revo 3.3 along with tons more alloy for a year. Never had an issue while bashing it. I took the rear alloy arms off last xmas cos I got a wider plastic set. But I still have the front alloy shocks fitted Plus I think gmp offers a year warranty no questions asked from asiatees which is very good they must believe in the parts. Anything heavy and fast tho its probably best to get some plastic arms. I would like to see some hinge pins that can snap if needs be to save the arm and anything else and they supply plenty of spare hinge pins in the sale of alloy arms. I think its a good idea not sire why nobody does it. Like alloy arms with delrin hinge pins it might just work. I like alloy arms tho but do see why the web is against them but some people say ther bad bcos its the general consensus about them.
