Im lost in the phone world so hoping people will list ther phones and any cool tricks or hidden tricls it does. Mayb some hidden tricks too.

I have to ask about chargers first I have the gal s2 , s3 , s4 and gal tab 3 7"

The gal s4 charger reads like this.

input 110-240v / 50-60Hz /

output 5v --- 2a

S4 battery size in mah (will go here soon)

The galaxy s2 charger reads.

input 100-240v

50-60hz 0.15a

output

5v ---- 0.7a

I think the battery mah is 1.650mah

-------------------------------------------------------------------'

So if the s2 has 1.650mah and charhed at 0.7a would charging it with my s4 charger output 5v --- 2a blow the s2 up or cause other trouble.

This question has just got me bugging I hope plenty w

will come and set me straight. I have tons of usb chargers around here so im bound to use charhers not dro. The correct device.

Let presume that it is bad above. But what about the same phones chargers would that still be bad or would the phone just take alot longer to fully charhe like using the s2 charger to charhe the s2 or tab 3.

im lost but want to be sure im charging safely. Some s4 phones have exploding and im thinking thos could be why.

Please feel free to post your phone stats what it can do others cant ect. And we'll do a poll In a few days for the best manufactory and model

in alot of ways I like my s2 over my s4 the s4 is awesome but its big and my hands Arnt lol..

ill ad stuff if ive forgot like mattery mahs ect. Plesse commen on the lipo battery safty stuff tho. Im thinking its should habe had big warnings

my phones a iPhone 5s in white but i never use it and my missus always has it and her pink 5c is sat in the top drawer :(

i mainly use my Ipad mini for communication as i tend to use viber, iMessage or FaceTime as i hate people calling me left right and centre. now i just bought a Macbook air 11 inch from Apple store and the iPad hasn't been used much since :) iPad gets used most of time for Tomtom and internet when out away from the wifi in the house and also doubles as a wifi hotspot.

Nice selection of apple mate.

is it ok for you to use the chargers between them I got pretyy confueed last night I read a ecig blew up. Probably because someone charhed it from an ipad charher.

Which got me thinking since batteries are getting bigger and hungrier wouldnt the chargers get beefed up too. Like a samsung galaxy with 1600mah life charges at 0.7a I think it says on the charger. My gfs s2 says 1a and my s4 and kids gal tab 3 says 2A im sure.

So if I use the 2a charger on the s2 thats giving double ampage and the phone doesn't even have 2000mah battery could this cause the phones battery to explode?

I know I did a title of show off youe handhelds thats valid but I just thought I would try and clear this up first because its not common knowledge and im only guessing really thanks to learning a little in brushless cars lol.

But I have tons of chargers with mini usb and thought they would all be the same so wouldn't matter what phone I plug into what charger as long as it connects.

But say using the s2 0.7amp charger on my s4 or tab wpuld the only issue be slower charge possibly safer charge since the lower amp the better for lipo and extended life overall?

Have a look at the chargers you have especially the ipad and the oldest I phone since the ipad should have a much bigger battery it might have a high amp out put still 5v tho.

Im confused about this and so are the people on a thread I looked at almost arguing "well I work in s phone" "well im a electrical engineer and design phone materials" lardi dar lol so I thought ide bring the question to people I know will understand batteries.

Rc people.

The chargers supply the voltage and current needed and then the phone will use what it needs to to charge.

It should only use what it was designed to take from the charger.

If you charge the s4 off the s2 charger it will still charge but it will just take longer to charge it.

If you charge the s2 on the s4 charger it will only use what its maximum (say 0.7A) will draw from the charger.

If the device has a minimum requirement of 1A to charge then it may not charge at all from the 0.7A charger

I use my nexus7 for most things as there is very little it cant cope with. I normally take it most places with me and use WiFi hotspot from my phone so I get interweb where ever I go. The smaller screen can be a little drawback but I have a laptop so it doesn't bother me.

My laptop is around 4 years old now but at the time I only paid

Similar setup to Alex.

My phone is a Sony Xperia SP on EE 4G. Had a few issues with EE's reception on this phone but when you've got a good signal its blindingly fast and the screen is crystal clear. Battery life is awful if you use the thing, but standby isn't bad.

I was impressed enough with the 4G phone to get a Nexus 7 32Gb WEE which is the 4G sim version of the Nexus 7. Yes the smaller screen on the Nexus is harder to read than a full sized iPad, but its also much more portable which in my view is the reason to be using a tablet over a laptop. On the Nexus 4G is awesome - its faster than using WiFi most of the time.

My current laptop is a Toshiba but I almost never use it because its got Windows 8 on it. For PC work I prefer my desktop anyway, and for mobile use the Nexus is better. My wife tends to prefer the laptop over the tablet so it lives in the lounge.

Recently purchased a space grey iPhone 5S 32gb, replaced my ancient 3GS which has served me well for nigh on 4 years until I finally smashed it rather spectacularly against a kerb. Still works mind you but I'm not a fan of getting glass shards in my hand everytime i try and text.

Loving the slo-mo and burst features on the camera. Fingerprint recognition is a bit of a gimmick but it does come in useful for purchases on the app store, although I no longer use it due to having one of these bad boy cases. Doubt i'll be breaking it in any hurry!

I have one of those cases that support Touch ID. But tbh it's so heavy and bulky I took it off

There is a free software that you can get it that makes it look like windows7 but it has some of the windows8 bits. Its called something like sea shell, I'm sure if you have a Google you will find it.

I'm with Jay on the chargers, as long as you're using legit chargers. Make sure the item being charged isn't covered, I've seen them start fires from overheating. I fell asleep one time and my phone ended up under my pillow, I woke up and it had stopped charging due to it overheating. Luckily my phone's safety features kicked in, I'd rather not rely on them though. I've also read a few bad things about the cheap chargers, I've seen them short out and start fires, that goes for the home and auto chargers.

My current setup is a Macbook Pro, Toshiba Encore, and a Galaxy S3. My wife has a Macbook, iPad, and iPhone 5. We've swapped chargers between almost everything and had no issues, except for the Encore. It seems like Toshiba made the Encore where it has to use it's cord, even though it has the same plug as my S3, I used the S3's cord to charge it overnight and it was still dead in the morning.

Thank you for clearing the charge thing up. I did think it was weird there's no warnings to using other chargers. Plus since all mini us chargers fit they surly expect us to use any charger avaliable.

The post about the bigger battery not charging at all from a low output charger is correct too. I thought my kids tab had broken bcos it wouldn't accept my oldest samsung charger I was relieved when it started to charge on a 1 amp output tho.

It was seeing a video of an ecig blow up that set me off on this, I mean it went BANG spat fire one way and a projectile the other the end cap. Apparant cause being charged from an ipad wall adaptor. (I will try and get the link it was more dramatic than some rc fires)

I've gone from s2 to s4 and it's a love hate relationship so far especially typing as you can see from my first two posts. The keypad is bigger so I hit the wrong keys or if I hit the right keys pressing space changes the word. The s2 knows what I want to type before I do.

The best new feature I've found so far is watch on its a TV app during set up you tell it what TV you like from the list. Sports horror ect. Then select your TV make and it sends a code. Then on the drop down menu you get a TV remote you can hide it if wanted so your messages ect can be clicked. Or if you click the watch on app it brings up a list of what's on TV now that you like click it and the TV jumps to it. Or set reminders from the guide.

Pretty good for stuff on quest and other good channels hidden in the clutter since I only scroll down to e4 then put the news on forgetting quest might have car shows or myth busters when I get home.

A beam and nfc I haven't a clue how to use those yet not sure I can my TV doesn't have wifi downstairs but I do have a ps3 could it be used with that? What sources can I play through the phone?

I like itvmovie.eu that is a click and play online stream site with a lot of good TV series on it. Like falling skies , walking dead.

Or could I play angry birds star wars on the TV too lol.

Wifi hot spot how does this work please I have a BT ulimited Internet and they've said I can use wifi anywhere outside but it's never came up. I need this now since voda has cut me down to 500mb this time I think.

Altho I rang them yesterday and got a feeling the op made a mistake a reapplied my 500mb for free to the account. He said it said I had 500mb applied and 500mb test something and then ok we'll ill put that through for you now. So hopefully I have a gig allowance again.

Flipboard I like that aswell.

5in I hate that I swear ill have ithrirtus much soon straining my thumb around this phone. I can't do it with two hands. 4in screen is much more comfortable. Unless watching media. God knows how note 3 users get on.

Here's the ecig article with video about halfway down. It's over in a second but still. It looks kinda like my ecig too.

Only sources I've found for the beaming is video and photo files, haven't seen an option for anything else.

Wi-fi hotspot I thought was running your cell data through phone onto other devices. Most carriers don't allow tethering tho so you could get caught out. AFAIK, the BT wifi thing is related to public wifi provision in towns etc but IIRC, BT routers save a small amount of bandwidth for other BT customers to use. I might have that wrong tho.

NFC - don't use it much but it can be useful. You can get NFC tags which you can then program your phone to recognise and activate certain actions. Eg. NFC tag on car dash mount will set the phone to driving mode automatically. NFC tag on front door could switch wifi on/off so it's not wasting battery outside of your house or cell data on/off so you're not wasting power wit cell data reception in your house. Stick one on a bluetooth speaker, auto turns on bluetooth and syncs to speaker.

I get what you mean but I'm pretty much always in the garage so it's handy for repelling petrol, oil water and whatever else I accidentally spill or if I jack up my car and forget the phone is on the roof

Redirects the speakers to the front of the phone too which is a nice touch as I usually find my hands blocking the speaker

Trusty nexus7 for pretty much all browsing, home built media PC in the lounge, years old Novatec desktop in the man cave, and a Samsung phone of some description.

I hate technology, so only have the basics of what we need to survive....whereas my stepson (officially now a processor designer for ARM) is master of all things computer related, and will be building an upgraded PC when we move...

Rooting sounds good but I've read it can damage the phone bricked I think they said. But I saw an s2 running s4 software which sounded cool.

So nfc is like Rdfi chips are they called that send signals/information like bank cards or Id cards use. That sounds cool where do you get the stickers.

I'm glad I started this I'm totally out of touch with tech my days was of the Nokia 3210 when we could make our own ring tones or play snake lol.

I've used the allshare now but my phone got warm I will try the other method cos allshare is samsung to samsung not beam idk lol.

Can phones run a ps2 emulator yet the gal s2 ran a ps1 smoothly and phones have twice that power now.

My Mrs gal s3 isn't so good just doing nothing the ram is mostly in use with everything turned off and no apps running. It's like 850mb in use.

At background the tab only uses 300mb is there a way to free up her ram and make it faster without rooting Tho.

Yeah similar to rfid. Bank cards are actually nfc though I think. Probably wrong :) Fleabay NFC tags then do some googling for some wacky ideas!

Rooting is safer these days, people like Cyanogenmod actually released the installer through play but then it got taken down. It can brick your phone if not done right, however if you're not using your S2, it might be worth using it as a test bed. Plenty of instructions on how to do it. You could get kitkat on there for that buttery smooth experience.

For checking whats running, settings - more - application manager then swipe across to running. My S3 is currently using 677 with 156 free.
