sidewaysjim
Hiya all. Having owned a hubsan x4 for 5 minutes I have grown a soft spot for flying so thought I'd treat myself to a sharp learning curve and bought myself a blade nano-cpx. Read the destructions (first for everything!) and charged the flatteries. Popped one in for a quick go before bed and really enjoyed it, although I did more crashing then flying! Definitely going to play with the quad some more before I break something or someone but absolutely love it!
Garf
Mine is great fun. I bought some extra batteries and an IMAX charger with a parallel harness thingy and now there's no more waiting for the supplied charger to do its thing on one battery at a time. I've still got the single charger but I've connected up some big batteries (Heath Robinson style) because I got fed up with changing out the AA's. It's amazing how much you can learn on the nano, it flies so much like my 130x but can't cause much personal or property damage in a small space. I fly mine in the conservatory and have only trashed a few umbrella plant leaves
sidewaysjim
Flew mine this afternoon for its second flight, but first time it could actually be called a "flight". I managed to maintain control for about 30 seconds in my living room and plan on more this evening. More batteries and a parallel charger is a must so will be buying that very soon but I've also got a wr8 in bits so need to get some repair parts for that first. I got about 100 gentle flights out of mine before the main motor packed up.
sidewaysjim
I'm presuming spares are readily available but a steady hand and fine soldering is required?
Garf
New to this myself, but,the main motors slide out and unplug, so no soldering required. Spares are quite cheap unless you upgrade to a brushless motor. I suppose the tail motor would be a soldering job though. I've gone for a brushless main motor because there are a few horror stories with the stock main motor replacements only lasting 10 or 20 flights. I bet my batteries will take a hammering with the new motor, when I get it fitted. Edit - just had a quick look and it seems you can buy the tail motor, boom and tail rotor assembly for a tenner so that would make it just an unplug and plug in job also. sidewaysjim
Not yet. I've had it out a few times but with a 6 month old daughter and my other two girls (5 and 6) its hard to find an evening with an empty living room. DX7s arrives tomorrow though so I'll be kicking them out lol.
sidewaysjim
Dx7s arrived. All set up using helifreaks beginner setup. Makes it much more stable and seems soich easier to hover. Gonna get these kids to bed soon and give it another go
sidewaysjim
Loving this heli. Want to get a bigger one to use outside as I don't have much space indoors and don't have the guts to take it out just yet. Lol. One thing I have noticed though is it fly's much better WITHOUT the tail fin....? With it, it tends to make the boom vibrate a lot but without, it seems more responsive to small adjustments and generally feels more controllable...? DannyP
Check how tight your feathering shaft is done up. It has to be a little lose but not to much, play around to find the sweet spot. Also check you tail rotor blade isn't bent. It is probably still vibrating without the fin, you just can't see it. Mine is really gutless, will upgrade to brushless at some point. danb1974
Tail fin interferes with air moved by tail rotor, reducing it's efficiency. But it protects it when you hit the ground tail first. And it looks good. On the mcpx there is a very simple mod using a small zip tie instead of that fin, to protect the rotor. Should work on ncpx too. Fix the zip tie on tail boom, pointing down. Cut to desired length to be just a tad longer than rotor.
Garf
I get shaky tail when the tail rotor is slightly bent. If it shakes too fiercely all types of weird things happen and it falls from the sky. I think the AS3X system has a "what the hell is that moment" and freaks out. Easy to fix though
Garf
Watch out for this also;
sidewaysjim
Is that elastic bands around your landing skids?
Garf
Is that elastic bands around your landing skids? Yeah, some of the daughters loom bands, just stops yaw on the wooden floor during spool up, or down. Tried to find some rubber grommets but didn't want to pay for any
sidewaysjim
Awesome! I'll find some of my girls bands in the morning
sidewaysjim
Took mine outside today as the wind was almost non existent. Loved every minute of the one battery I ran. Took it up to about 15ft, hovered around, crashed once or thrice, even tapped on the window with the blades to show off my new found ability to fly! Lol Anyone that fly's this indoors and can't quite get the hang of it, try it outside when its calm!!
