Which 1:8 buggy roller for around

I'm after a 1:8 buggy and would like to know your opinions on which would be best for me. I won't be racing, just generally driving around/bashing. I don't have a big budget so I'm looking at one of the following:

1) A new Hobao SSe buggy roller (has thin centre drive shafts)

2) Hyper 7 conversion (older, heavier, more rugged)?

I have around

Thank you, what you said makes sense. I don't have to buy brand new if it is in good condition and decent.

I just found out the rc8 has been sold so that's out of the picture...

Then I'd suggest looking down that route bud :) theirs a reason they're so popular :P

I personally can't rate the ones I've had highly enough and the 8ight-T is proving to be just as good.

If your interested in second hand then I'll be putting my Mugen MBX6 Eco in the sales section this evening. Including more spares than you'll ever need.

Heres the sale thread

The Trophy buggy is just fine for bashing, mine has survived bmx tracks skate parks the lot, plus the drive train will survive just fine on 4s. The front hubs are the only real problem, you can ruin the threads in them just by unscrewing the hex bolts out of them. But there loads of spares, cheap too. They will break if you are a hooligan or can't land huge jumps, but then so will every RC.

My bro in law has had problems with his one with the pins coming out of the front uj's and damaging the ally steering knuckles he bought. Also he damaged the front steering support/bracket thingamabob so the top hinge pin kept on coming out until the replacement part came. This was after what he called a "fairly light impact". He also complained about some other stuff that has annoyed him about it but I stopped listening after a while...

It's not put him off hpi stuff because now he wants a vorza.

And yes, he does drive it like a lunatic lol.

Nah, I managed to get it as a roller. I take it you saw it on eBay? I've got everything to go in it apart from a motor so I contacted the seller to see if he'd sell it as a roller with a motor but he didn't want to split the combo. He was happy to sell it as a roller with pinion gear servo for

Yeah I did see it on e-bay, that's better as the combo it had fitted wasn't that good.

What esc do you have?

Do you want to get a motor from here in the Uk or don't mind ordering from overseas?

Also what lipos do you have 2s Nanotech Hardcase?

Thanks.

I think your bro in law has been quite unlucky, i have never heard of the pins coming out of the front uj's. He should threadlock them in.  And i bet it wasn't such a light impact. Like you said he drives like a lunatic. Sounds like he would break any RC with his driving.

Yeah, I thought the combo wasn't that good. It looked very similar to a 35a combo I had in my helion Dominus. That combo died within a month and it's not programmable. I bought an sc8 120a 1:10 combo off a fellow forum member so I will be using the esc but not the can. I have the digital program card for it too. I don't think I'm going need to worry about 6s for a while so the sc8 should be fine for me.

I have a 30-60c 5800 2s nanotech and a 33c 5350 2s something or other battery (forgot the name. Could I use both together? According to the math both can give 150a minimum so I should be ok?

If there is somewhere I can get a motor for a decent price in the uk I'd be happy to do that but the Hobbyking one is form their uk warehouse so would only take a couple days to get to me. Do you have any suggestions for where I can get a sensor less motor from?

Cheers.

Ha, yes. And he wants to go faster which is why he's aiming for a vorza. I'll tell him about the threadlock. Thanks.
