I've never been keen on cross-mounted motors, it just adds more gears to wear out, in my book at least. It works fine on a 2wd platform, but with 4wd you've got to turn the drive 90 degrees, then you can split it front to rear. With a longitudally mounted motor the drivetrain is simpler, less parts.

Just my view.

Unless I'm mistaken (it wouldn't be the first time!), Traxxas were the first to introduce splined hexes. Not that that constitutes a patent, but I wouldn't put it past them to kick off.

That's a good price, too.

if there the same size as traxxas  hex .. it don't stop you using 17mm hex wheels
