mini-z-awd
a lipo will make it faster and give you longer runtimes. the only thing iam unsure on though will the lipo fit in the nimh battery tray as there a different shape though you can get lipo`s the same shape as nimh
PurcyP
these are lipos that are same or near enough same dimensions as a NIMH http://www.modelsport.co.uk/nvision-7.4v-sport-lipo-3700-45c-deans-/rc-car-products/380174
harry118
So lipo makes it faster and fun longer ok So i should be ok with a non lipo battery as from what i can tell is you dont need loads of power for drifting. from what i can tell . heavyleftthumb
its doesnt necessarily make it faster it all depends on the nimh batteries you are using as a good quality nimh pack can have a higher discharge rate then some lipos. what you will get is is a more constant power out put as the discharge rate on lipo doesnt drop until right at the end, where as nimh usually drop off a lot quicker. again some lipos dont necessarily make your run time longer as this is dependent of the condition of your batteries and the mah rating as 5000mah nimh will clearly out last a 3000 mah lipo. the lipo brick type packs will fit into a tt01 but you will have to remove the strengthening rib ont he battery try which in standard form allow for stick packs to be used, but if you carefully remove these then like i do run 5000 lipo packs and it will last ages and fit real nice.

Colicab
I run a TT-01 for drifting, this is where Im at and quiet happy. - Locked Back Diff (Glued up) - 1 Way Front Diff - Drift Upper Front Arm Set - HPI T-Drift Tyres (found them best for outdoors on smooth concrete) - Photon 60A ESC - Etronix 10.5 Turn Motor - 2s 4100mah Lipo I get run times of 30-45mins If I put road tyres on I can drive about pretty normally, tho I mainly drift 99% of the time with it. Just keep in mind if you wanna go Lipo and are using stock Tamiya electronics then you,ll need a new Motor / ESC.

harry118
Top man colicab am new to this been a nitro man Want to know so the less turns a moter has the more powerfull it is? Ie. 9 turns is better the 9.5 turns ?? Also im guessing the esc must match moter powet also or not? If there is a link explaing this it will be much apperciated or any help. Colicab
Yes. Less turns mean faster. But for drifting you want 10-12turn really. As for the ESC, yes it is advisable that you make sure it can handle whatever kv/turns your motor is. And the ESC must also list what kind of lipo it can handle. 2/3s etc. The above ESC`s and motor`s should more or less all be interchangeable tho. harry118
I never thought id ever get out of nitro but from the time i got my sprint 2 flux lipo iv been spechless lol... seen combo called ezrun 5.5 t esc and moter online seems to be amazing power thinking of going for that what you recon coli for raw speed. For around 60 quid or any one got any rewiews on it?
Colicab
There decent wee combos tbh, use the bigger version in my 1/8th truggy. Would maybe get a cheapo 10t aswell and just swap motors for when drifting/racing. I was same as you at start, kinda a bit "oh i,ll want to run it as a race/speed car aswell" Tho thats out the window now, went full drift. I can still run as normal, but it would probs be a bit weird, what with my front one way diff setup. But yeh the Ezrun combos are good value and well made With a 5.5t or whatever it was motor tho you can still drift, but will probs have issues with low speed drifting. I know I do still with my 10.5t Edited July 24, 2014 by Colicab
