Buggy or truggy

Does it have to be a kit? There aren't many 1/8 kits just rtr and rolling chassis.

Have a look at the hyper ss buggy and the ss truggy(think that's what its called). If not just have a browse on Modelsport and see if anything takes your fancy. If you have any questions about the model just ask.

Hi Alex,

I fancy building a car, last one I built was 12/13 years ago!

Planning to run it on grassed areas and mud (we have a few farmers fields near us) so would you recommend a truggy or buggy?

Many thanks

I've used a 1/8 truggy off road and a 1/8 buggy on a track so my option might not be that useful to you or necessary. For multi use on road, track and off road I would pick the buggy as they handle much better. I don't think they make a kit so you could buy a rolling chassis new or buy a nitro strip it down and convert it to electric.

Hi guys, going to order the team C buggy, have seem some good reviews online, spoke with modelsport.co.uk and they had good things to say about the kit to build.

Trying to plan a set up esc etc... Would this esc & motor - HOBBYWING Combo

3400KV Brushless Motor + EZRUN Waterproof SC8 120A ESC + Card?

What kind of lipos would be good to run with this?

Thanks guys!

Good choice with the stoke buggy it's the same as the team c t8e buggy and ansmann x8e.

The combo you mention won't work the esc might be ok but motor you want 1900kv-2200kv I'd say this esc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251462221402 as you said and this motor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251422760008

But at that price I'd get this motor for the fact its waterproof http://www.ebay.com/itm/291066801235

And lipos try these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29013__Turnigy_nano_tech_6000mah_2S2P_65_130C_Hardcase_Lipo_Pack_UK_Warehouse_.html

can you recommend a good lipo charger?

Also the buggy looks like it can take two lipos could I run 2 x the one you are suggesting?

Many thanks!

Sorry wrong motor and yes two lipos makes your 4s try this motor http://www.ebay.com/itm/301231336242

The one before would work but don't know how well I ran turnigy ones off hobbyking http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__19114__Turnigy_1_8th_Scale_4_Pole_Brushless_Motor_2100KV.html

And http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17980__Turnigy_1_8th_Scale_4_Pole_Brushless_Motor_1900KV.html

The 1900kv is a good choice as it gives more torque so you can use a larger pinion think I had a 19t on mine

As far as chargers go take your pick http://www.modelsport.co.uk/chargers/rc-car-categories/9920/992030&MSAttributeID%5B34%5D=618&MSAttributeID%5B35%5D=886

The one I'm getting soon is the orion one duo but not read any reviews on it yet someone else might be able to surgest a good one

Yes but with those I've found only one in four will be usable as they don't have matched sells in other words one sell discharges quicker than the other killing the battery by the time the esc auto cutoff has worked but give them a try you'll need two

Just pushed the button on the esc and 2100kv motor + some servos for the buggy.

Had a little result the mrs had been looking on my iPad and seen all the buggys I'd been looking at and has kindly ordered it for my birthday :D only catch is that I would be able to start the build till 1st of August.

I will go for the more expensive lipos, have a charger already so now just need the radio gear any more recommendations?

Thanks guys

Radio gear well it depends on what you want if you plan on racing at some point avoid the flysky gt3c but if your only bashing its the best value for money handset you can get me personally I'd recommend any of the sanwa radios this caught my eye http://www.smddirect.co.uk/101a30875a-mx-v-rx-37w-radio-set-waterproof-with-black-steerwheel-2334

But I'm a stick user so had to get the gemini x while their on offer but they cost as much as your kit so I wouldn't recommend that one

Just remember your radio will last you longer than the car will till recently I still had a thirty year old acoms handset that I got from beaties when I was a kid it had been in about twelve different cars over the years and still worked when I sold it so buy a good one it will last you a long time

Ah now the tricky stuff you need to wire the betteries in series for this you'll need to be able to solder then you make a bridge wire with two 4mm bullets on the end to go from - on one to + on the other then by putting the same 4mm bullets on the end of the esc wires they then go in the remaining +&- battery terminals like this null_zps7e6081f1.jpg

These aren't the same batteries but what your doing is turning two 2s lipos and making them a hump pack the only other way is using a deans series battery connector problem with that your adding more wire for things to go wrong with

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the reply, doesn't seem too difficult then.

Think I'll have to wait till pay day to order the lipos for the buggy had a few drinks on Friday and went a little crazy ordering parts lol

Then due to the issues with the charger I bought a brushless set up and lipos for the TC3 nothing too high spec as I'd rather put more money into the buggy project!

Also I have 2 of these lipos for my TC3 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29003__Turnigy_5000mAh_2S1P_7_4v_30C_hardcase_pack_ROAR_APPROVED_UK_Warehouse_.html

Would I be able to run them in the team C with out any issues?

Cheers

I'd have gone for the 1900kv motor as it runs cooler but that all looks ok just get yourself a 17t pinion I wouldn't go much higher with that setup and when you do get better batteries like the ones I linked or any higher c rated batteries you'll tell the difference

Hi Neil,

I plan on getting the battery's you linked might order them this afternoon.

Just a quick question I been looking at the motor today and noticed that the cables on it are all black and not colour coded....anyway of working out which is which?

I don't fancy just hooking it up and hoping for the best lol

Cheers!
