lmao i cracked up at the spelling mistakes for the shell.

but as said will be getting an rx8 shell so this niassn nssmo skylinn will be for bashing and learning lmao

So done a few things already, working on this car is refreshingly simple so im really pleased, gave it a general once over for loose screws etc and done the following.

changed the uninspiring and boring nuts to some black ones for the wheels..o-err

thread locked the double jointed CVD's and greased em.

changed the hokey battery connector to usual bullets so i can use my packs

got it all hooked up and neatened the wires.

just waiting on a pack to charge and then its time for its maiden skid

okay so second run out the plastic rear spool drive cups gave way as i was expecting to be honest.

so ordered a spec r yokomo bd7 solid axle with spring steel outdrives to solve that issue, getting it from mobisport

Just a small update,

I ended up taking some plastic and jb weld going to try rebuilding the out drives, I don't think it will last but if I do it properly it should hold for a few days till the metal one arrives

Progress thus far

aint pretty but got plenty of sanding to go yet to make into shape, quite strong but probably wont last but if it gets me out again to have a play i dont mind!

but you can imagine what it looked like before, the out drive forks just went poop!

Heres a nifty trick ......

when we were boosting 1/18th scale with 8000kv brushless mambas we

were seeing drive output forks expanding and throwing dogs, so much so

the bones would expand the joints themselves.

now for a fix we grabbed some brass tube. what your wanting to do is this

Find a tube with an internal ID that slips over your output shafts on gearbox/spool side

now measure up the tube and cut a small tube shim, you want this to slip over the shaft

and the dog fits inside nicely and clears everything ( the shim at angles ), this brass tube shim

will stop the joint expanding open and breaking/failing/opening out.

Ah clever, yea a couple of others i just read suggested the same thing for a plastic outdrive set. but alas too late

for a giggle i got some playdough and wacked in the decent end in as a cast and made up a metric f ton of jb weld and doing a casting ..see what happens, im bored haha

Bit like the Darksoul Toobs beloved by the Gasser boys!

Well ive just ordered a VBC widlfire spool and outdrive, stock plastic ones but was very cheap and wont have to wait an age to get the metal one from tonisport (germany)

the VBC spool bits are coming from MB models so should be here Thursday and will probably shim this one to stop it exploding

Brass Compression Ring !!!

google this term above , click images and have a good look.

now sometimes these compression rings are a little Loose so a tiny touch of

superglue ( like spot welding, just a tiny spot) will hold em in place.

Aye chewbacca , just like those gasser rings just cost a lot less and come in that lush brass finish lol.

they dont just work on the outdrive shaft/rings on gearboxes, then can be used on center diff outputs

to keep long legged dogbone center drives from gettting thrown, well worth having eight or so of these

kept in the kit bag/ pit box .
