Got to run SCTs on indoor Go Kart track! ... but both spurs failed!

Recommended Posts

Alright,

my sister, my brother-in-law and I got a great opportunity to race our SCTs around the indoor go kart track at Noah's in Perth yesterday. :D

It was brilliant fun, and they're looking to incorporate my touring car club with the karting place for regular meets!

Unfortunately, my Losi XXX-SCT melted it's spur gear, and shortly after, Matthew's HPI Blitz stripped his.

We've been running on loose gravel for ages with no problems, but obviously the increased grip of the go kart track caused the issues.

Thing is, I've read that melted spur means too loose a slipper clutch, so the increased spinning causes massive heat on the friction plates, melting the spur. Whereas stripped spur means slipper clutch too tight? I'm not sure which way to go. Neither slipper assembly was particularly tightened up.

Any thought?

Videos and pics to follow.

Cheers.
