ESC & Motor Combo

Recommended Posts

Had my car for months, and only now can I start to go racing in the next couple of weeks! Need to get myself a new ESC & motor and not 100% sure what I should go for? I will be racing 17.5 blinky to start with but would like the ESC to do other stuff when I get better/more confident

Got a total budget of around

The reventon R bundle is very popular at our club and they seem to run well. You will not get anything that would be as good value as that combo.

I have used a reventon and it was fine, as well as a justock which was also good (by markets are quite mild though) my main car has a Fleta Pro and its great.

Oh and the HPI motor isn't that good, as mentioned. The Turnigy track stars are very good for the money though.

I use a Revention R esc with 10.5T and 17T SP motor and has been good so far, the only problems I've had where due to my own lack of information on the product on setting it up but no fault of the combo

Ebay link with a 13.5 motor: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speed-Passion-Brushless-Reventon-R-70A-ESC-V3-0-13-5R-Motor-Combo-UK-Ship-/380771262734?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item58a7bc610e

The Trackstar stuff is a hobbyking brand and gets mixed reviews.  They're cheapest on the Hobbyking website, make sure you select UK warehouse if you want fast delivery.

Personally, I'd go with the Speed Passion.

That's only 70a though not 120a how much of a diffrence is that going to make. Plus I have the 13.5t trackstar motor already. So don't really no what to do.

You wont notice a difference between the 70a and 120a if you run 13.5 blinky. You may start to notice it when running higher power motors with boost, if thats what you ever have a play with. If your racing, id go speed passion. I think they are all right, never run my self though. Id stay away from the hobbyking escs, ive seen a few go bad

blinky is a setting on the esc, it is when the esc has no turbo/boost. There should be a light blinking on the esc to indicate this, hence the term blinky.

13.5t blinky is a good class to race in, that's what I currently race at the local club.

If you're running blinky, I'd recommend the Hobbywing Just Stock esc, its an awesome esc for the money, only

Haven't a clue on what class mate. Just touring cars possibly use it for a bit of drift. I really want to go to snetterton

The drift set up I am not bothered about as that's only for a quick play every now and then so some plasstic wheels will do the job. I just want a decent combo that I can use for most things.

Hobbywing also make some great ESC's, I've heard the XE run is a good one although there are others - 60a and 120a versions iirc?

Sometimes they sell you a motor too as a package.

I use a Tekin RS Pro and Gen1 Redline 13.5 motor myself, but probably overkill if you are not overly serious about racing!

I what would you sugest to go with the trackstar 13.5t sensored motor I already have I need to get a esc asap but theres so many choices and does the sensor cable come with the esc as I haven't got it with the motor?
