hicks451 Posted April 6, 2014 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Hi all, I've been looking around for a new shell for my 1/10th Touring car and i was hoping to get something which is upto date and that's in the BTCC championship but i can't seem to find anything around infact i'm even struggling to find any car shells that have been in the BTCC these last few years. Is it me just not looking good enough or is it that the RC manufacturers just don't produce these shells. If i want GT shells or even the DTC shells they are about but any BTCC shells just don't seem to be on sale with all of the RC shops in th UK. If anyone could shed some light on this i would be very grateful as it would be well cool if i could acturly get a BTCC shell that i want. Many thanks in advance. Si Coe Posted April 6, 2014 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Its a case of demand. TC shells fall into 2 types - scale and performance. Racers go for performance shells which look a bit like real cars, but the shell's shape has been tailored to provide the best possible downforce. The first BTCC round was last weekend, the next one is on April 20th on ITV4, starts about 10am The first round was awesome, it's going to be a very close & exciting season I think the highlights will be shown the weekend after on Saturday afternoons, they used to be shown mid-week. I know they're not BTCC, but I really like the look of some of those Pandora body shells, tempted to get one to race with as the class I race in has relaxed body shell rules. hicks451 Posted April 8, 2014 Author Share Posted April 8, 2014 Many thanks for all your replies it's much appreciated and i'm sorry i have only just replied back as i've been pretty busy the last couple of days. Well it's great to see i'm not the only one who would like to see BTCC shells for sale and there's definitely a demand for them so i'm completely puzzled as to why the haven't done more in the past or for the future. I have seen loads of posts on different sites asking for more BTCC shells so it just looks like the manufacturers just can't be bothered to do anything new except for the same sort of stuff. As for the Honda tourer the nearest thing i could find that would look close to it was HPI Honda Odyssey so take a look Dark Knight as i'm sure you will like the look of it if you like the new BTCC honda plus i must admit i really like that car as well and i'm sure Matt Neal and Gordon Sheddon will rip the hell out of it to show it's a car that can win one of them the championship i mean just look at the first meeting last weekend and you will see it's a great car. I know it won't happen soon but it would be great to see more shells that look like BTCC cars and if you think there are shells out there that could pass and be changed to look like them please post some pics as i would deffenately be intrested to see what they look like and whether there is one i would like to buy but i am leaning towards the odyssy as thats my best bet foor a close BTCC shell. Well thanks again for all your replies i'm very grateful and i look forward to seeing if any members post some pictures of there shells that look like BTCC cars or new shells they think could be converted to look like one. But i can't wait to see it all finished and ready to show off as i know it's going to look well cool once you customize it like a BTCC car. The Dark Knight Posted April 10, 2014 Share Posted April 10, 2014 This will be the first time I've attempted to paint a body shell like this so we'll see how it turns out, I'm not promising anything lol I need to find somewhere which will make me some replica decals like the Yuasa etc. I've already ordered some BTTC Team Dynamics looking rims If this turns out good, I'll probably want to keep it as a shelf queen body shell. It won't be until start of June until I'll be making a proper start to this as I'm away on holiday at the end of the month for 3weeks.
