There are quite a few threads about the mini 8 and emb but not much on the GTB, as I am thinking of adding one to my mini collection it would be good to hear from those with experience of the GTB if any one wants to give information on set ups, hop ups and general talk about them I would love to read it

It put me off buying the older one too but the new one has the same battery tray as the mini 8 or emb so more appealing to me now and as I own a mini 8 and an emb I wouldn't mind the gtb also :)

So first impression of the GTB is maybe not as good for bashing as the mini 8 or emb, the main reason being motor position, the motor is left over hanging the chassis with no side guards to protect it or stop and unwanted debris from going in the sides and my GTB the motor has been hard wired to the esc which I can totally see why as there is not alot of space for the wires to be placed although I have not had a run out with it this is my first look at it and not really sure on the why they chose to mount the motor in that position.

Took it out, not sure what gearing is running on this but I have altered ride hight as it was for indoor running, changed the foam tyre back to standard, there are some hop ups already on this like savox servo, pro wheel hex's, cvd's up front and I got spare wheels and others bits with 4 lipo's too. I noticed the motor getting hotter than I would like so I will look into that it is running the 5700kv and is pretty quick, it handles great as you would expect really and I will give a run against the mini 8 and emb to get a better picture of things 20140314_182819_zps061dgsxk.jpg

Brilliant racer, loads of grip and punch, they fly really nicley,

However keep a eye on the diffs as i found they need rebuilding every month or so.

Depends what you want to do, race it and i can help, bash it and well your just weird

Here is my thread a posted last year

Must be weird then but unfortunately I don't have any choice, there are no clubs or tracks near my sh@t hole of a town and so if I want to run any thing it has to be done outside either that or not bother.

I will strip it down and check diffs but I am the same as you I hate cross head screws lol, cheers for the link I remember reading that awhile ago but couldn't remember where as uk micro rc forum is down I thought it was on there. I was looking at that chassis as it goes on dime rc, how did it work out.

It's quiet on the gtb owners here but just thought I would ask if any one has the geared diffs and did you encounter the problems with the cvds being too long that is the problem being discovered with some I have seen

With the massive response I thought I would update every one lol, cml are offering the shorter shafts to those that had the problem with the diffs, it seems some cvds where manufactured too long and this is causing the problem when fitting the geared diffs. And guess what, I bought the diffs and the cvds I have are too long, I was going to wait but I couldn't :/

Hi,

i will convert my onroad track in the basement to an offroad carpet track. The area is approximately 40sqm. I am interested in the Carisma GTB 1:16, but i am not sure wheter the room is large enough for a 1:16 offroad home race track?

What

Not too sure on the size really but if you made the track run tight it might be ok just get a super fast servo for corners lol.

I am going to try and get some of the heat issues sorted with the motor temps I am getting, I have some nice small heat sinks to place on the alloy motor mount, aluminium chassis on route thanks to dime rc this should disperse some heat through the mount into the chassis, I know a lot of flex will be lost with the alloy chassis but I am sure removing the top deck would go some way to getting some back but I will experiment with it, I might try a 4 pole motor but will try every thing else first.

it seems like there are not many that want to post about their GTB's on here which is a shame as I get asked quite a lot if the GTB is the same as the GT14B it would be good to show the differences and maybe stop people being put off as they think the saddle packs are needed for this buggy.

What's your choice for a basher? Emb or mini8?

(Nothing too extreme, I know there ickle!)

Emb would be my choice, they're both good little buggys but the kit emb has the better diffs, servo saver, stock motor is great.

They both have limits as to what you can do with them but fun all the same
