Mongo: the heist vehicle

Had the idea to do this for a while, its been done already in america but the all the pics on the thread have gone so thats not much help.

anyway introducing mongo the heist vehicle from fast 5 now before anyone has a go  this wont be perfect to scale and wont just be rear wheel drive. the idea is for it to be 4wd for crawling then rwd for messing about

started off with buying some axles from chris, gmade portal axles there not the perfect scale but i've wanted to use a set for a project for a while. coupled together with some m4 links i had from a previous project it should give a good start off point for the wheel base

il be using axial vertical plates to hide the gearbox under chassis like on the actual truck, i will also be using a punisher shaft on the rear and a junfac for the front.

ive also started on the cab, big thanks to dready for the plasticard. after a bit of searching i found out the cab was a oshkosh hemmt and after signing upto a website i got some blue prints to work from. this is where i am after 5-6 hours. its my first attempt at a scratch build so i will need some pointers.

biggest decision i need to make is what electrics. either a 23t bz motor on 2s or brushless either 13.5t on 2s or a higher turn on 3s.... any advice would be great.

looking good so far mate, personally i would make little pedestals for the seat to make them higher but.....looking good so far!!

im looking forward to see where your going chassis/cage route.

i still have the odd urge to build another scaler, this makes it start again.......maybe one day :whistling:

Ye the seat will be going higher than that

I want it to be alloy frame cage so might do all the cutting bending and get my mate at work (who's a fitter) to tig it together

Little update

Just a few extra panels added like the front with grill and bench sections to mount the seat.

I have the centre console section marked out ready to cut which I'm hoping I can get done tomorrow but that's it till the weekend. Il probably start on the chassis and figuring that out.

All comments especially advice welcome

So it's been slow going for a while due to one reason or another, I built the centre console didn't like it so ripped it out started again and now I'm happy with it

A few pics of how it will sit

It will sit higher and further back than that, I've also got the motor and gearbox bolter together running 84/15 gearing for now with a 23t bz that's been Igified. I've started playing with the 103mm gmade piggybacks that I bought recently and bought some softer shorter springs to get the part droop setup I want

thought id update this as its been soooooooo long.

so i cracked on and got the shell pretty much done.

i then got the chassis thrown together and thought it would be a good idea to run it around the garage as rwd and this happened.

next step was the cage work and after deciding to do it in steel i cracked on

i decided to simply the cage to reduce weight and here it is finished and everything mounted

so i then had a play with the shock setup so it sits right

and thats up to date and here's the list of things to do:
mount the shell more securely
in shell cage work
make bed
swap the motor out for something slower
mount the electrics up and battery
paint the shell weight wheels up

cheers for looking

Cheers lads

It's took me so long as I've nearly come to sell it at least 3 times! But I've decided it needs to be finished first and played with lol

I've also decided to build a full cage frame just to see how good my cage skills are so that's taking priority at moment as I might have a buyer for it
