Brand new KM Baja, had some issues so far...

KM Baja 002c. First thing I did was thread lock the usual areas also fitted a kill switch. Couple of days later it was time to test and run in but Ohhh no as the throttle servo packed in after testing on the bench :xd: The coil also gave me problems to begin with but seems ok now.

After nicking a servo from my Yama buggy it was to the field to begin running in the engine, this went well for 30mins until it starting bogging so tried tuning for ages but no look and now after 20 seconds of running the engine will cut out if on the throttle as if it's starving of fuel so I'm thinking a faulty carb?

Any ideas on the carb situation, I think it's a 668 that's fitted but may be wrong, the same thing happened on my other car which turned out to be a faulty carb.

I'll be ringing RCModelz tomorrow about the faulty servo so should I mention the carb as well as I really don't think it's a tuning problem?

Thanks

Ryan

I dont think it matters,

Its a brand new item straight outta the box.

It should work perfectly.

Get on the blower to them. I hear they are good to

Deal with regarding faults/problems

I have put two tanks through mine so far without issue.

Just need time and good weather to really try it out.

All the best with it

That's where you're wrong.

Setting your end points is one of the first jobs you do, otherwise you could just go through servos for fun.

Another mis-judgement is everything brand new should work perfectly.

Well yeah in a perfect world maybe, but things happen.

I agree though, ring RCModelz, definitely one of the best customer services you could wish for.

Do km bajas come with a walbro 668? I thought that was one of the first things to upgrsde.

Could you try your yama carb on the baja to try it. Also after playing with the tune did you put it back to factory settings mate. I hope you get it sorted. The owner of rcmodelz comes on here once a blue moon so knows to look after msuk buyers or it might hurt their pretty good reputstion so he'll definitely make you happy im sure.

Do they? I honestly thought they still came with those terrible star carbs?

Also don't you start :P

They sure do bud, there still all fitted with km's own engine with the exeption of the 2.0ex which has a cy, but even the ksrc-001 now comes with a walbro, happy days.

The mind boggles, a Yama better than a KM

Anyway yeah back on topic, I've been running the stock servos for a couple of tanks (after setting them up correctly to begin with) and they are performing fine.

I've changed the throttle to a Hitec now merely as I wanted to test a bodge fix on it and couldn't be bothered swapping back after realizing it does actually work (wasn't expecting it to  )

with all the problems i ve read about on the forum over the last few weeks with these new km,s all i can say is thankfully i bought a hpi baja.

Which ones? I've had some that aren't because it's a KM, most issues could happen to any of them.

At least the KM comes with a proper radio and exhaust from stock lol, which is a double plus point to KM in my book.

I gave RCModelz I ring today and they said to send back the servo and carb for testing and they'll send out new ones to replace.

Yes the carb is a genuine Walbro 668.

Whoever said that the Yama is a better model than a KM is mad !! I've owned my Yama for 8 months now and only use it on Sundays and the amount of spares it's had is unreal, I've added all the parts invoices up from Mattys Models and it come to

Run the car again and get it to have the same problem, then loosen the gas (petrol) cap. Does it hiss? If it runs better then you know the tank is not venting properly.  Check the vent in the cap, I know many of the "clone" gas (petrol) caps are junk.

My 002TX Nylon didn't come with a Walbro, it came with the star carb, which was promptly tossed in the bin in favor of an 813.

On my Redcat the inlet manifold bolts were too long and not allowing the manifold to seal to the head, that cause tuning headaches not to be believed.

Good Luck.
