no, the glo plug needs an intial power source - electricity to heat up its element, once the engine has started then the combustion in the chamber is enough to keep the plug continuesly hot/glowing

with out that power source at the beginning the engine will never start

u'r thinking of a spark plug

Actually..you can do it :)

about 4 years ago when i used to race 8th buggies......i rolled my car and it stalled so we raced back to the pits to get it on the starter box but forgot to put the glow starter in...but hey ho it started :D

but it is impossible to do it when the engine is cold (i had been running for about 30 mins), if it was a little diesel engine then maybe (but then i don't think youd have a pullstart, might be a bit hard to turn over :P ) but with a nitro engine then no..it won't happen.

mine almost fired up as well without a starter as well..

I took the ignitor off/fell off onto floor while i was still raggin away at pullstart and it ALMOST turned over on its own!!!
