NuttyProfessor
Update Managed to shoehorn an etronix photon in there with the old ripper 5500kv motor out of my TT KT8, bloody rapid little thing handles well for a mini MT, proper shocks would be nicer and the option parts list is pretty good so i reckon its a good bit of kit for a 1:18. thebongos
I got this truck last week and its quite fast. I would like to go brushless but the drivetrain is plastic and i would like to know if it will withstand the extra power. And mine bottoms out very easily on 3-4ft jumps. My losi micro brushless sct doesnt bottom out on the same jump. Any help please
NuttyProfessor
Well its doing around 25-30mph with the brushless that ive put in there, its pretty quick. You would have to change the shock oil to something slightly heavier than stock, its very springy, ive hit the brakes too hard and flipped it twice just running it on tarmac, possibly upgraded shocks off a mini 8? For a budget mini MT, its bloody good fun
NuttyProfessor
Ive also ordered the metal spur gear for it but the ally prop shaft is out of stock, i think the one off an LRP Shark/FTX Blaze would fit..... NuttyProfessor
Update A 2200mah lipo fits perfect, got my own little spares pile too for it Put a Reedy 5500kv motor in there on a 14t pinion with a Losi Xcelorin 25a Esc, first run will be when the lipo is charged. thebongos
I just got an ezrun 25a/5200kv brushless combo im waiting on my new tx/rx before I do the swap. I got 45wt shock oil but I dont know if its too light or too heavy as I never knew what weight oil was inside in the first place. Any advice please? NuttyProfessor
45wt will be fine, I was running 40wt. Stock up on dogbones and stick to stock gearing.
Jacksprogis
Hmm , This may be helpful to my cousin who has one of these ... Jack.
NuttyProfessor
Well ive ordered the metal dogbones and pre-ordered the metal connecting cups as a reliability test. Plus if you want better control, use the jackal wheel and tyres. Shame its not a 12mm hex for the wheels but ive found that the rc18 proline roadrage tyres just fit on the Husky MT rims so a possibility of proper tarmac usage. NuttyProfessor
From Hobbystores look on their site, the dogbones were special order from Ripmax from Hobbystores.
thebongos
One more issue please ive tried to mount the ezrun 5200kv n found out that it doesnt have a flt side for the grub screw. How to I mount the stock pinion? Thanks
NuttyProfessor
Use a dremel or grinding wheel to grind a flat spot onto the shaft or use some threadlock.
Jacksprogis
What BL combo would you recommend for my cousins stock one then ? He's heavy handed , Used to be anyway Cheers Jack.
NuttyProfessor
I use a 5500kv reedy motor and a losi xcelorin 1:18 esc and its pretty lethal on 2s but he would have to use the Jackal's wheels to get the grip, the stock MT wheels are terrible. thebongos
Im having problems mounting the ezrun 18t motor on the stock motor mount any ideas? How did u mount urs?

Brett92
ripper combo and 2s, what u reckon nutty? mini basher or just road and dirt capable? need something thatll be ok on grass but has to be mini, i love them ive got a few spare combos sitting around doing nothing need something to chuck one in lol
thebongos
What motor mounting screws do you use as the stock one is too big for the ezrun motorand where can I buy them ?
NuttyProfessor
I did have the 5500kv Ripper combo in there brett on 2s on an 11t pinion, it seriously flew and the temps were spot on. Its a strong little machine, just needs a few upgrades here and there plus the jackal wheels and tyres, better grip and handling. Also fitted mine with Ansmann 60mm shocks on 40wt oil. As for the motor screws, will either be 2.5/2.6mm I reckon.i also had to enlarge the big hole in the middle of the mount to fit a motor with a bigger endbell to get full movement to mesh the gears. thebongos
Well ive mounted the motor, programmed the esc. everything running smooth. Motor and esc dont even get warm. Very fast I cant hold the full throttle around my back garden . But 2 issues I noticed was that I tried a 2200mah lipo n it didnt fit so I used an old 1300mah for now but it lasted 10-15mins bearing in mind I didnt evrn use full throttle. Second issue is tyres n wheels..are there any other tyres that fit these apart from the jackal tyres? Can u put up pics of yours so I can see please. NuttyProfessor
I use the jackal tyres and rims, they use hexes specific to the ripmax 1:18s which is really annoying. A 2200 fits but you have to trim the front of the battery holder sides off so it slips in. You will get 20-30 mins on a 2200mah pack Edited June 10, 2013 by NuttyProfessor
