How much difference in distance will a rc car work with the receiver ariel wire in the upright place to one with an ariel underneath the body shell?

I dont really like seeing the wire sticking out of the top of my rc cars. Is there any way of hiding the wire without loosing distance?

Cheers

Quite a drastic reduction in range. Aerials work best when they are upright, so laying them down is just asking for problems. If you're driving in a small area then you may not notice much difference, but out in a carpark or a field will cut down the range by three quarters or more. The best solution is 2.4ghz, they have much much shorter aerials and with some bodies, it may not even reach the roofline when fully upright.
