As title says, how to test the temp of a nitro engine. I've got a temp gun and wanna start tuning the engine with the aid of the gun. Do I take the temp whilst the engine is ticking over, or do I take the temp once I've ran the engine? Ie thrash the car about and then bring car in and test temp straight away?

Always tune by sound and smoke output and power
the temp gun is a guide to how the engine is running and to how the tune is
as for when to take it - Run the engine let it get hot first
After its been running just flash the Sensor over the glowplug ish area and see what you've got
200F if its been idling for a long time
250f MAX if you've just been ragging it super hard for like the past 5mins
220 - 230 is the ideal temperature range

When ever you compress something, the temperature will always increase as well
As long as there is smoke - there is poke - it's fine

200 F = 93 C
210 F = 99 C
220 F = 104 C
230 F = 110 C
240 F = 115 C
250 F = 121 C.

that rule doesnt really applie to optifuel rtr fuel. you could probably be really lean and still get smoke

If the RTR engine is well built, then it won't overheat no matter how hard you run it. But if its crap like Force then you have too many stallings

Just had the car out in the snow. It's great. Kinda impossible to keep it in a straight line. But fun none the less
