Hi, well my gearbox on my lunchbox has started to click, more so when i go in reverse, so I stripped it down and looks fine, the gearbox with the motor out is sound and silent, and the motor out of the gearbox if fine, no clicking at all. I checked all teeth and gears, all seem fine.

Any idea's? It's baffled me..

I did think that but the gearbox is smooth as with the motor out, even rolled it across the floor to test at speed and under load :P

Could it be a loose screw clicking against a gear- check the pinion, and make sure the pinion's teeth aren't worn down into sharp points.

does it also happen when hard braking? if so my uncle had the same problem, in the end it was the motor moving under torque whilst hard braking, reversing and full punch accelerating!

Will check this is the morning, the main pinions if over 5 years old now and the gears are a few years old.

Will test this also, it  does seem to do it most when hard on the throttle or reverse but that could also be because its spinning faster.

Who whould of thought such a simple gearbox could be so much trouble :sly:

there not hexes, but they still might be worth a look...

It sounds to me like the little springs that stop the gearbox slopping about have got weak this happens in 100% of lunchboxs/pumpkins overtime as they bob up and down clumsily :)

OK, had a butcher's at it again today.

Bearings - fine
Gear's - fine
Pinion - fine
Wheels hex things - fine

All screws seem fine also.

All i can possible think of is if i some how managed to warp the main gear in the gearbox that contacts the motor? :/ It's only around £2 for a new one so might try that..
