What's your thoughts on the quality of the plastics mate was thinking of getting one for my dad cos he loves the firestorm
quite a few people make aluminium bit to go on the front of the chassis a bit like a skid plate like on the pic above

This mornings progress, all the dampers are fitted, they don't seem as bad as they look, time will tell. They give an even rebound, and have only leaked slightly from the caps (probably over filled?).

Shiny motor fitted :)

Build on hold until appropriate allen key for pinion & servo arm can be found (1.5mm?)

Dude, they are as bad as they look! I'd just built mine, took it to work on Sat. morning clipped a dropped kerb and boom! Damper popped A-arm busted and that crappy front chassis section busted. I've got some old Losi dampers on now and I think they help disipate the impact through a larger area, much less breakage since. I'd look into getting some better dampers mate, defo.

If it's anything like the royal flash (I think it's basically a 2wd version?) you'll need quite a few of these: http://www.modelspor...-products/32298! I've broken two already due to walls/curbs appearing from nowhere - the bit where the lower suspension arm is screwed onto the chassis is very weak.

I think its sourced from a different manufacturer, had a quick look at images of the royal flash, and it doesn't look to have any common parts.

there are to OEM suppliers for Ansmann, the 2WD models (Macnum, Mad Rat, Mad Monkey) are made in a completely different warehouse to the 4WD 1/10ths

I've been runni a mad rat for almost a year on stock parts and only parts I've broken where when I crashed it like goin flat out into the corner of the house and when it cartwheeled in to the corner of a wall at full speed even then it was the front plate and rear hing pin holders.

I still won't to build a kit and wish there was an HPI Vorza SS kit available.

It will be some machine with the etronix 9T combo. My Blast MT has the same combo on standard gearing and its quick enough but I'm dreading hitting anything with it as it probably has 4 times as much power and twice the speed of what it was designed for lol.

Its good fun though :D

Pretty much done, just need to glue the tyres, stick down the electrics and drill the body shell, oh and put the stickers on :D

The battery plate will need a hole drilling in it for the centre lipo lead. Posted Image

Oh right, that's interesting - I would have thought they'd used the same supplier for both. I wish I'd bough a Macnum when I made the choice about a year ago, it looks to be slightly better made and the fact it's 2wd means there's less to go wrong! It looks like you've done a good job with putting it together, I made a few mistakes when I did my royal flash - mostly with putting the wrong screws in the wrong holes.

Cheers, its been pretty easy to build, I didn't use the kit screws are they are meant to be made of cheese, and i got a good hex driver which helped.

Servo saver was the hardest bit to figure out, but that wasn't THAT hard. The servo posts took a bit of persuading to line up with the holes in the chassis too. Apart from that its been plane sailing. I want to put a bit more negative camber on the front when my thumbs have recovered from the turnbuckles.
