Hi folks,

What's the general opinion of Optifuel?
I can get 3 gallons for a good price locally.
It's 20% Optimix (20% Nitromethane and 18% Synthetic Oil.)

Would be using it in a 3.3 Revo.

Cheers

Good! But i think 25% is suited for bigger block engines.

I used 25% optifuel in my firestorm made it alot easier to tune

a revo 3.3 is a small block but you can still stick 25% in it if you want.

I've just switched to Opti from byrons, and I think it's really good fuel- bit more smoky than most so be careful of your tuning, but I have not noticed any loss of performance compared to byrons. I would recommend getting the 25% though as it's not much more expensive

Most all revos in the USA are run on 25%, i run all of mine of 25% and they run better and a lot cooler than they did when on 20%. Id say if you can get some 25% then that would be a better option, but opti-fuel is really very good.

Not always. The Picco .26 max is 4.2cc and is technically a small block.

'Big block' and 'small block' refers to the external dimensions, not the capacity :)

that was the only exception i could think of and it is specially made for the revo so i don't think it counts

yes over a 3.5 is a big block, and under 3.5 is a small block engine, rule of thumb anyway.... not always the case, like said about the PIcco..

and like the others have said..

Optifuel is really good.. i run it all the time.. I switched from byrons to optifuel ages ago and really cant see any difference in performance either....
I just couldnt justify paying extra for byrons when i can get the same quality fuel and perfomance for a fraction of the price of byrons...

And yepp, a little smokey, even when the engine is tuned lean, so dont go by engine smoke when it comes to tuning....
Its smokey due to their ingredient of Klotz oil, which is one of the best oils around.....

It's not from a shop, just some guy selling up his own stuff. It's sealed though.
This is the stuff...

simple way to work it out
times it by 6 and you'll know if its a BB or not
BB is .21 and over

So a Traxxas 2.5 * 6 = .15CC engine = Small block
Again traxxas 3.3 * 8 =  .198 CC engine = Small block still :(
Take a Hpi engine the G3.0 = 3 * 6 = 18CC
Another Hpi been K4.6 = 27.6 (classed as a .28 most likely)

See how handy it is to work it out?  :)

Thats helicopter fuel... dont use it in your rc car (although they say you can) as they are different style engine all-together. 18% lube is far to much for an rc car engine, you will eat glow plugs and it will be slowwwwwwww. heli engines are massive .90 or over usually and stay at 15,000 revs for extended periods of time, so they fuel is formulated for endurance and not power.

You can get opti-fuel 25% rtr mix from msuk for just £25 a 5l bottle whitch is a very good deal, go with that instead of heli fuel.....
