Not all ball diffs are rubbish - the ones in the DB01 were exceptionally bad! In contrast the ball diffs in my RC10's went years without servicing - so many years they machined the diff rings down to ninja weapons!

Ditto, Schumacher, Xray, Losi, Associated, even ball diffs in other Tamiya chassis are great. They need to be built with care and attention and properly adjusted though, more than a few people struggle to set them right, meaning they are usually too lose, sap power, generate heat through friction and melt things like the outdrives or the diff pulley gear.
