In a press conference in Japan today, KO Propo introduced its new Kustomize It Yourself (K.I.Y.) interchangeable transmitter. The concept of the new K.I.Y. brings simplicity to customizing and upgrading within a modular system. The new transmitter is composed of 3 modular units, Steering, Throttle and Master units. The three separate modular units can be easily put together, no screws required. Just push the safety lock of the joint, pull the lever and pull or push to insert or remove the modular unit.

Finally the Grip unit which is comprised of the throttle and power. 4 x AAA batteries are needed and the battery magazine is inserted into the grip. A left-handed version will also be available.

The Steering unit features different variations such as wheel steering, drop down wheel for the Wheel steering and Stick steering.

The Master unit is the “brains” of the transmitter containing the CPU and 2.4GHz RF system. It also incorporates the display screen which tilts down for storage.

It looks absolutely nuts, but being a past and current KO owner, it'll feel sooooooooooooo good in your hands and will be perfectly balanced.

Having brought you the very first photos and detailed information about the new KO Propo EX-1 yesterday, we have sourced more detailed images of the transmitter with a focus on the modular K.I.Y. system. As explained before the radio allows you to assemble it in modules using the Steering, Throttle and Master units and as such you can configure it to just the way you like it. There are optional steering modules, for a lowered steering wheel and also for a stick option which gives you a hybrid pistol stick result, something that goes back to the original transmitters from the 70s and 80s. We are told by KO that there is a lot more to this radio and we will be given an in depth run through at the Nuremberg toy fair in 2 weeks.

if its the same as the one on my Vantage 3, it'll be so you can use earphones to hear the alarm for the countdown timer, lap counter etc over the noise of nitro engines,

That.... Is truly awesome.

The RC vehicles themselves have been modular from year dot....
Split into  Chassis (MBX6T Ect...) / Wheels / Bodyshell / Battery / ESC / Motor / Servo / Reciever. + extras (Gyro / External BEC Ect...)
All interchangeable as you see fit,

Bout time the part that stays in your hand has gone modular too

Would like to see this tech go further to the point the transmitter is as modular and as interchangeable As The machine it controls
Don't like a certain part....   Swap it out for something you like... Or upgrade the Master unit for different Frequency or more powerful for longer range....   Though I'd rather see the "Brains and screen" And the "Transmitter Unit" split into their respective parts.

So could build the perfect transmitter for you,  just like you can kind of build the perfect RC for what you want :-)
