You have to remove the Red wire from you ESC when useing a UBEC..

look at fig 4.3 in the link

Hobbywing-3A-5V-6V-UBEC-manual.pdf (application/pdf Object)

I don't a UBEC in my AX , but do use them in my powered gliders that run 6 servos and a  motor.

i have never used a bec in any of my cars simon, why do you need to power the receiver seperately?? is your steering servo struggling to turn the wheels?? in days of old with mechanical speed controllers it was the norm to have a seperate power supply for the servo but nowadays all esc`s have power feeding the receiver for the servo.

depends whats happening mate, if the servo is struggling to turn, either the drive battery is not strong enough to cope (cant see that) or the servo is not strong enough (quite possible)

hope this helps, gaz.

Some of the Comp guys use UBEC , but thats only because they want the extra power for a hi-torque steering servo . .

guys it was just a secondary thought to keep the 7.2 just for running the motor and not both
as previous not doing comps so not worth the time or hassle??
