You need something 17t or higher Novak and Tekin are good. (£150 ish)
For a radio i'd go for a DX3C because you can run the dig from that as it has three channels and 3 pos switch (you can also use it with other cars as it has model memory) (£70)
Servo you need something high torque at least 15kg. (Savox 1256 or similar) (£50)
Crawling aint cheap.

lastly, radio gear, basically, any which you can afford but the 3rd channel needs to be a 3 way switch type. dom pointed out the dx3c which would be fine or you could go for the slightly older but still a damn fine radio, the dx3e.
good look with whatever you go for, i will say, money spent now, will save in the long run, especially on the servo mate.
cheers, gaz.

so far in my modelsport basket i've got the dx3e transmitter, losi 11.1v 1350mah 3s battery(recommended on the comp crawler page)
and a savox sc 1256 servo.
i found the comp crawler for £85 so that's sorted
just need to find the best(cheapest) place to get the motor and esc.I looked at the modelsport recommended speed passion one and the novak goat but they appear to be only for 2s lipos so i'm confused why they'd suggest a 2s esc and a 3s battery?!
Next question is servo and battery compatibility, will the savox servo be ok on 11.1v?

There is a lot of confusion/difference of opinionon brushed/brushless, but i have used a titan 550 monster, for about a year with no probs at all, it was wet run in. Also i know a lot that does, the opinion is that the worm gear destroys the motor, which is true but most i know can run one easilly for a year.i would probably go with big gaz sugestion of the ezrun or a titan motor. The servo is good, i had a smaller one and it bust too quick.
Some people like the newer dx3 as you can see easier where you have set your dig, forward/ back/ 4wd. But thats just personall, just letting you know.
A good upgrade straight from the box would be a diff set of wheels, the tyres are fine, but the standard wheels are verry shallow dish inside, so when i put lead in to weight them you can only get about 3 oz per wheel before pushing out to far, jc concepts, vantage etc all do a deeper wheel recess for that reason.
Go for around 6-7 oz in each front and half on the back, also soften the springs in the front, and a bit harder in the back dont need new springs just adjust the standard settings for now.
Star cut the foams also..
Oh by the way if you find it does " cog" up, just engage disengage dig it will then release just fine

i would go for either novak/tekin 45t or 55t for the motors and either novak rooster crawler or tekin fxr for the esc, both esc`s will happily run 2 motors that i listed with no worries.
yes first job is the gearbox bearing mods, maybe alloy knuckles and c-hubs on the front and a alloy steering link, otherwise they are quite a good crawler mate.
