I got a Vantage brushless version last week, and so far I'm fairly impressed. Well built, good price and the etronix electrics seem pretty good too. It survived a full days racing on Sunday at the West Coast Open in Ayr with 4 heats an 2 leg finals on the standard battery. I even managed to get it in the C final after some decent heat results, but was last in the final cos I was up against a load of Durangos and B44's, although I managed to keep on the same number of laps as the last 3 of them.

All in all a good car. Bit noisy transmission though. It was a toss up between this and the losi mini 8, but I fancied some 1/10th scale racing.

I might even start a gallery show off build thread thingy for it

Nice one fella what i have in mind is to get the brushed version as i have a Ezrun 60a esc and a 3900kv motor sitting around not doing much so swap that out and i also got a spare spektrum rx so 2.4Ghz sorted see how it runs on that but what about the batts would love to use these

but not sure if they would fit might give the guys a modelsport a call see if they can test fit before i buy!!! what about a better servo needed or not?? i was going to get the misses to get the brushless one but this seems a better idea if the motor combo i got already anit no good a etronixs one is only

how would the build quality hold up in comparison to the old hpi rush evo truck in stock form on a bash/car park session? im looking to replace it with electric and cant find any decent info on a conversion so a new car may be the way forward would like a new lecky eb4 but thats not going to happen.

Don't want a 2wd was looking for a 4wd for a bit of winter fun that's why i posted the Vantage/Carnage as it seems the best deal out there in that price range i also looked at the Maverick range but the FTX range seems to be more bang for your buck so to speak

went and had a gander at the vantage in my local shop and i have to say im really impressed with the build quality and my local keeps spares so going to plump for the brushed version and get a brushless setup after xmas when funds allow.

I'm impressed with the build quality of them. Seems pretty strong. The only thing I did before running mine was check over everything was tight, and a re-routed the esc to motor wires to give a bit more room for the fan to breathe.

I did manage to break a front shock tower, but it was a heavy impact with the wall of death at the end of the straight (I'm putting some vids up of some of the races, you'll see what I mean!) and a couple of tie straps held it together for the last 2 races no probs at all.

The steering servo is pants, alright for messing around outside, but not for tight tracks. It was soooooo slow it was unreal. I'm going to try a Savox in it and try and tighten the servo saver a bit as well cos it did'nt seem to be getting full steering sometimes.

I've a got vantage, it's got a few upgrades, like carbon top plate , front and rear carbon sus mounts and I've got the faster servo up front, and few other little fixes.... Overall a good biggie for the money... You can race it to but would advise some upgrades first.

I'm new to rc and I have just bought my 10 yr old daughter a brushed vantage. After a few days, it began to stop and start for no reason so guessed it was an esc problem and upgraded it. I have fitted a cooling fan between the motor and esc as there are still times when it stops. Do you think it could be heating up? As you clearly know your vantage, what would you suggest, it just gets bashed by my daughter but she loves it and moans like hell when it stops. Cheers in advance

Have you altered the pinion gear size to a bigger one, as you mentioned a heat issue, also rc cars do got quite warm, brushed motors do get a bit hotter than brushless, the starting a stopping could be a signal issue between your radio gear, the speed controllers do have a safety cut of so it can't over heat and fry your electrics... Hope you sort it

Do you run it through very thick grass at all, that can be a over heating issue, what is the esc you have upgraded to, does this esc not have a fan built it in...esc units do fail sometimes.

Thanks for your reply racerdan, I haven't replaced the pinion, what pinion do you suggest.

The esc is the etronix probe wp which was supplied by wheelspin when the original began to play up. The esc didn't come with a fan and the motor had no heatsink so i added both as a precaution. I would like to make it a little quicker for my daughter, and wondered what upgrades anyone would suggest. Would you upgrade the motor to a better brushed or go straight to brushless as I am trying to keep to a budget until my daughter has decided if she is going to stick with the hobby.
