I'd definitely be tempted to retro fit a top deck for it, just for durability and chassis strength alone. My 2mm GRP was a bit floppy.
I think i might just attack the original top deck and basically cut and shut it, would be a lot easier

Just read it from start to finish, I love homebuilds! Great work so far :)

Couple of points, its definitely going to be needing a top deck, and I'd be really worried that 2mm GRP is thick enough. I'd expect the torque of the motor to cause enough chassis twist to pop the centre driveshaft out of the drive cups. Cars designed to run on carpet well have thicker than normal chassis, for example the old Xray T2 US edition had a 3mm chassis. One idea to help solve that would be a spine, similar to the Associated TC4FT. It was a carbon plate mounted to a pair of graphite blocks, then mounted to the top and bottom decks. It helped it increase the rotational stiffness along with bracing posts. You can see it here: http://www.rcweb.de/...p?f=183&t=32138

Or a couple of curved centre posts from the HPI Pro 4.

Another solution would be an outer upper deck, just like the old IRS conversion kit for the Associated TC3. It was like an upper deck which followed the line of the chassis, but had removable posts all the way around to alter the stiffness.

Anyway, thats a few ideas to think about for an upper deck. The servo may cause issues too if you're running touring car wheels and tyres - its designed for lightweight 1/18th cars and wheels/tyres, so the weight of the front and rear from a TC along with TC wheels may be too much for it. Is it the metal geared version?

I do like the look of that tc3 style upper deck, although i'm not sure if i have enough material to make it, i think i will start off with the chopped down original plastic one.

as for the servo, it can supposedly pull 3kg at 6v so i would of thought with a decent servo saver would be fine. It is the plastic geared version, and i have looked at spare gears already and they are only a couple of quid.
