Whilst most of last week's focus was on the cars of Ty Tessmann & Atsushi Hara, we kick off this week with a look at Hot Bodies designer Josh Alton's CR8 buggy. The car has developed a lot since we first saw it back in February, running the new parts over the weekend was Jesse Robbers, taking the win at the FAMAR cup in Chile.

CR8 updates:
- New chassis bracing to control flex & additional side guard lock nuts. [See Photo]
- Updated front shock tower, now wider with shocks more upright optimising shock geometry. [See Photo]
- New front 25 degree caster blocks. [See Photo]
- Rear shock tower update, (will be aluminium in production) [See Photo]
- New rear shock mounting holes in lower rear arms, also updated rear hub geometry. [See Photo]
- Reinforced center diff mounts & top plate. [See Photo]

Expected availability: Q1 2012

From what I've heard, was meant to be end of Jan/Feb 2012 sort of time.
Josh Oltan & Jesse Robbers have been testing the CR8 & it's mean to be one banging ride!!!

I know I want one but only if I can get the pennies togeather!

I have seen CR8 pics with what looks like manule in the background.
So that means it's more than likely about ready!

Any more pics of the shell anywhere? I cant seem to find many. Certainly a nice design like where the fuel tank comes through, no more refueling through the window

From Neobuggy.net!

This don't sound good!!

Posted ImageDesigner Josh Alton leaves HB, destination AE?

This past Tuesday at the Huntington Beach-located indoor track of OCRC we bumped into Josh Alton, designer of the '08 IFMAR Worlds winning buggy the D8 and the much anticipated composite chassis CR8. Josh is a regular at OCRC, usually racing his Hot Bodies Ve8 on Wednesday night racing. On Tuesday however, to our surprise Josh was praticing with a Team Associated RC8e. When asked what was going on, Josh replied he had resigned from his position at HPI/HotBodies on Monday January 23rd and was currently unemployed, but remained tight lipped of where he would be working next.

Over the last few weeks there have been a number of prominent designers playing musical chairs - Kurt Wenger formerly of Team Associated joined Avid in mid January, Shin Adachi - one of Kyosho's main figureheads departed and joined HB - announced January 26th - only 3 days after Alton's quoted departure; unlikely to be a simple coincidence. So could we see Alton on his way to AE's Lake Forest HQ or are we reading too much into Alton's appearance with the RC8e...
