Blurry pictures of Tamiya's upcoming TA06 Pro chassis appeared on tamiyablog.com last night. The chassis features an interesting layout with a central battery pack, rear motor and TA05IFS-style laydown front shock absorbers. The electronics such as receiver, steering servo and speed controller are located on each side of the battery pack. The TA06 Pro will appear sometime in May in Japan meaning a European release should be not too far away.

I was thinking front is HPI Cup Racer, rear is HPI Pro 3.

Should have a nice balance though, but not convinced about laydown front shocks, apart from the Revo and the old Predators, the only benefit is for low-nose bodies.

The problem is that Tamiya's UK distributors refuse to admit that the TRF range even exists, except for the TC's. So you probably didn't know they make 2 different 1/10th 4wd buggys (the belt drive 511 and the shaft drive 502) plus a 2wd (201) and a 1/8th buggy and truggy too.

i just had that discusion with my brother ^_^ tamiya uk is based in Milton Keynes, but do diddly squat on the offroad side.

The trf801x is a great buggy, however try getting spares  as the offroad side is all in america  look at the drivers list on an american national and there are loads of tamiyas, in the uk, i think ive only ever raced against a handful of them :)

Even more ironic since UK and Euro 1/10th offroad champion Lee Martin races for Tamiya! In actual fact, Lee is responsible for supporting TRF products in the UK himself, since he is supposed directly by Tamiya (not the importers) and was displeased with the level of UK support for the cars he promotes. There was a rumor Lee was going to be campaigning the 801 as well as the electrics, which if true means more spares for the 801.

Elliot Harper is in the same boat for the touring cars side, driving for Tamiya directly rather than for HobbyCo.

For the record, the Pro 3 came before the TA04. :good:

RC TA06 PRO Chassis Kit - TA06

Item #58492 (COMING SOON)

The latest addition to Tamiya's on-road R/C touring car product line is the TA06 PRO, which was created with input from the world championship-winning TRF (Tamiya Racing Factory) team. Tamiya started the modern touring car standard with the TA-01, which was first released in 1992. This is the 6th generation 4WD chassis, which features a totally new layout design that offers excellent balance. The motor and battery are mounted along the center-line of the chassis with the radio gear positioned on either side. The DUAL-DRIVE SYSTEM features belt-driven front and gear-driven rear wheels. The gear-driven wheels offer sharp throttle response and improved acceleration. The battery pack can be accessed from the underside of the chassis for convenience. The refined Inboard Front Suspension (IFS) setup can also be changed to a standard outboard setup thanks to the kit-included damper stay parts. Front and rear gearboxes are equipped with newly-designed gear diff units to efficiently transmit motor power and offer superb traction and acceleration.
