I have had one of these for months now, and still running on the plastic gears, all I did was strip them down and greased them well before I even run it for the first time. I do have 2 sets of the metal gears ready to go in though - but while it aint broke...

You could consider fitting a pinion with less teeth, that provides more torque, and they can do with slowing down anyway,. From the box they can pull wheelies, especially if you use lipo. I now have 2 outbacks and i also own a cc01 pajero,. The outback model is far superior across rough ground. They give my scx a good run for its money.

Turnigy 1591MG servo ordered! I have read that the tyres are good. Will get some new wheels, and may look at putting some weights in the front ones now I have a Servo that can turn them!

Hi All, After modifying just about every part of my SCX10 over the last few years I fancied a new project, and something to keep it company - so yesterday I took delivery of a nice shiny Outback ranger. Having read up on it, I already have the replacement ESC and a 13t pinion is on it's way, I decided to have a play with it just as stock. There is something wrong with a crawler that can pull wheelies! but didn't stop me from spending 20 minutes with it spending most of it's time on 2 wheels. One thing I am unhappy with is the steering, the servo seems very week - and everything is very sloppy. Going in reverse is a bit of a gamble as the wheels turn either way on their own accord and refuse to allow it to back in a straight line, I bought the universal drive shafts with the car and hope these will help. WIll know more when I strip it down. The Steering bar also seems very soft and bendy, has anyone found a suitable replacement yet? Now don't start me on the wheels, nice tyres, but the wheel......

Just to even the field up a bit - I have been using the mtroniks Rock crawler esc in my SCX-10 for years - and it has outlasted a lot other parts on the car. I think the reason you killed it is that it is rated for a MINIMUM of 33t motor. I have mine on a 55t - ok I will never win a drag race, but the Torque is incredible.

I am looking for a pistol type controller that I can use on 2 of my boats,, The issue is that neither have reverse so need to have the full range of the trigger throttle, does anyone know of a reasonably priced controller that can either be converted or has the option of just forward?

Hi all Been a long time since I visited the forum, Bought one of these for Xmas.... Rear Belt broken on Boxing day...It was not stones that broke it but really poor setup - the edge of the diff was rubbing against one of ball cups of a turnbuckle. Since replacing it has run well on all surfaces - there is enough open space around belt to avoid gravel catching in the gears (i HOPE). on 2s it is very quick - on 3s it is stupidly so, needs a very light finger. I will say that hobbyking were very good in getting the replacement parts out to me - had them in first week of January.

Ok measured the height of the inside of the car. As it stands there is just over 3 foot in the back, if you removed the woodwork it would be just over 4.

Did I mention it has air conditioning too? Unfortunately only in the back.. (honestly!)

See - All it takes is a little imagination.. If finances allowed I would love to keep it for myself, although I would probably go down the route of making it in to a pickup. (the tailgate is exactly the right size to make the back of the "cab" and then just a case of putting in a new bed (no Jokes please).)

Height... Will have to measure that later. Reason for sale... the undertakers it belonged to have renewed their "fleet" of cars. A friend and I purchased them, (in honesty) for the limousines, and as it was an all or nothing deal we took the Hearse. As things turn out my car failed it's MOT on Saturday, and I will not get a chance to get it re-tested for a week so I have been using this. The more I drive it the more I like it, and I keep thinking of reasons to keep it, hence the above list. Because I like it I thought I may be able to sell it to someone who could give it a new lease of life (Pun intended!)

I have for sale a 2.3L Petrol Volvo, with plenty of room in the back to carry models up to 8 feet long, great all round visibility, extraordinarily comfortable, taxed and tested until May 2014... Large RC boat? no problem 1/5 cars, room for loads Model Railway exhibitor - no problem for all them boards, Surfer - lots of room inside for boards In a Band - Need something to carry the instruments and up to 4 band members - this is it! Minimum effort and you could make a great Pick-up truck.

I agree - any car benefits from having bearings, I bought the Mad Monkey kit and put bearings in from the off, bought my nephew a RTR Mad rat, made a huge differance to that when I replaced the bushings with bearings. Next step is to put in a Brushless system, a low end one is fine as on a 3s lipo my Monkey is almost uncontrollable.
