  1. Hello all. Newbie here & having read & read the forum topics I am at a loss over brushless motors & esc's. I have seen combo for sale with for eg: 9t motor & 35A esc, then same 9t motor & 60A esc. What I can't find out is how to calculate the Amps a brushless motor takes when I have no idea on the watts used by the motor. To use Ohm's law you need the power divided by the voltage to workout the Amps but descriptions of motors only give the turns & the Kv's but not the wattage so how do I know which motor goes with which Esc & what volt battery I could use?
  2. Just a quick tip for you all. When soldering deans, use a spare female/male as a heatsink. It does help not to melt the plastic & make sure the iron you use is hot enough for the job. A good quality 40amp iron will solder upto a 6 cell lipo when using 60/40 fluxed solder & a clean iron. Done loads of lipo's for my heli's.
  3. If I go to Chadderton next week just to watch, do I have to pay??????

  4. Hi Guys & thanks for the welcome. I will get to 1 of the Bury Metro meets shortly & thanks for the invite Si. Had a PM today with a bit of advice as to cash I have to spend & what I'm looking for & told to put a post up & get advice from all you guys who are in the know, so I will be getting a wanted post up over the next day or 2. Thanks again 1 & all & I hope to meet some of you soon.
  5. I am hoping to get into RC EP off road cars very shortly. I do own a couple but I think both well out of date now as being 20 odd years old. I am trying to learn as much as I can about the modern electrical systems before choosing a model to go for. I am registered disabled & unemployed so my funds are not huge but my grandson, who is nearly 5 fancies having a do after seeing my cars. So plenty of reading to do. Hope to make a visit to 1 or 2 local meetings over the next few weeks & see what it is all about.
  6. Hi Gav, I have altered my details showing my info. Thanks to all for the welcome. This hobby could get expensive if I don't keep my eye on things.
  7. Just bought an HSP Brontosaurus EP & dug an old Mardave Meteor & Tamiya BigWig out of the the loft (got both old cars running). I am returning to RC Cars after almost 25 years, my how things have changed. I need to learn all about the new electrics used on models now a days. I hope to build myself a vehicle from scratch using bits I have knocking around but I'm not going to rush things. I'm off to do some reading & hopefully learn from your website which seems to be well designed. ATB, Steve.
