So its new its different and theres nothing else like it other than the new Outcast from Arrma or you buy 3 models a truggy, monster truck and a buggy and splice them together and perhaps sprinkle on a little sct !

Are you honestly asking me to explain why it's acceptable for a sub £200 RTR to have a very similar range, but not acceptable at 3/4 times the price?  Seriously?

THis is arguably a newer platform and spares may be easier to get hold of. Losi parts are usually shadow stock. It's hard to say which is ultimately better, but I do find having to use imperial hardware a PITA.

You're obviously happy with what you're both buying that's all that matters  you give people £600 to buy an RC and everyone's gonna answer differently. I'd buy a Summt for example. You'd buy a Tekno MT, others would buy a Petrol

Other than in your opinion is there some unwritten law ? 

Personally, if I'm paying £379 for a KIT, I want them to actually attempt to think about what they're trying to achieve, maybe plan in a little research, a little bit of r and d, maybe change a few things and put some effort in as opposed to having a look what they have down the back of the settee and using that and saying, 'that'll do'.... I don't mind paying a lot of money for something , as long as I feel they've put effort in and I'm getting value for money.

 

The main part of a Monster Truck is ground clearance. You could argue that the only reason this has any increased ground clearance is because of the wheels and tyres.... that they don't even include...

 

its not not an unwritten wall, it's my opinion. You're opinion is this is the best RC since sliced bread so you've ordered two and are defending it to the hilt. That's fine

Not sure about everyone else, but picking up thr car because it's fallen over gets boring real fast - much less chance of that happening with a Low centre of gravity chassis like these buggy/truggy platforms, plus the flat chassis will glide over any rocks/big lumps - unlike hcg ones that get hung up on such obstacles.

Lol I think they thought long and hard about what it was they where trying to achieve and achieved it very well indeed if I didnt then I wouldn't have fork out close to £800 

 

For what your getting in quality parts I think it does offer value for money it's not cheap though 

 

The ground clearence for me is fine if I wanted more I'd get a rock crawler

The reason this shares the basic chassis plan with so many other designs is that IT WORKS!!!!!! 

I admit I like my MT's to have crazy ground clearance and solid axles, which is why my MT is a Wheely King - but thats not a high performance vehicle. The route to performance is always low, flat chassis with front and rear independent double wishbone suspension. That pattern is seen across scales, classes etc as it does the job. 

 

Quick history lesson - when the original T-Maxx and later Savage first appeared people tried racing them. Unfortunately some companies took a 'cheap and easy' route to making a 'Monster truck' which was take an existing 1/8th buggy, widen, lengthen and stick a truck shell on, thus creating the first 'truggy'. On the track they trounced the true monsters even if they 'didn't look right' and soon people stopped trying to race monsters at all. 

 

This Tekno, like the Arrma Outcast is basically a stunt truck that doesn't really fit an existing class. Yes OK calling it a 'monster' truck does suggest its something like a Savage or Revo which is isn't but there isn't really a name for what it is. After all even the existing classes (Truggy, Stadium Truck etc) are things the general public would refer to as 'Monster Trucks' ie a truck shell and massively oversized wheels.

With Teknos .4 spec race rigs due imminently, i was kinda hoping to see some .4 parts on this. 

 

Seeing as it's all .3 spec i'm assuming Tekno released this just to use up ET and EB kit parts not yet sorted into complete  kits to ensure the new .4 racers hit the market asap.

Would they drop the .3 spec range entirely?

As kits yes, thankfully all new spec parts are backward compatible with older kits.

 

May well get an ET48.4 to bash, but use any .4 parts that fit the NT to my NT48.3 race rig.

According to Losi, a 4.0 E truggy probably won't happen anyway. 

I was after the buggy for racing but this seems more fun....

 

I always figured the badlands where mainly truggy tyres, but that looks awesome! I really like that. Shell looks ace too!
