  5. I'm still waiting for the body to be completed before I start hammering, and there again, I won't be going too hard for long - I'm too impatient. I'd probably take a few rigs somewhere - park or something - then blast up and down for perhaps 5-10 minutes - then that's me done. 5Ah is more than enough for me - it'll probably be somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes all in, obviously depending on terrain and how angry I am!! If I want to blast for an hour, I'll just get the big petrol truck out, and I'm happy! It does attract a bit of attention, but it's great fun. 2WD and 18 kg. Al.

  6. A pic of the basic rear bed, this still needs lots of detail parts added, like the tie down hooks etc.

  7. Not too much progress to report. I've made more progress on the front cab and made the basic frame of the rear bed. The good news is I have all my electrics now, I've just to decide how to install everything. I was planning to install most of the electrics into the rear section of the front cab but this would make it a pain for maintenance. So now I'm thinking of just install the electrics as intended on the chassis. Here's a few more pic of my progress: I've been using EMA Plastic Weld to glue the body, it sets quick and seems to be a strong bond: The front cab, I used masking tape to hold the basic structure together: I'll be using a Hobbywing 1080 esc & Yeah Racing 45t brushed motor: The front grill & badge put into place: The front fenders into place: Test fitting electrics in the front cab but decided against this: The servo I'll be using to change 2 speed transmission: Basic layout of electrics. Once I'm happy with the general layout, I'll be wrapping the wires in black sheath: That's it for now

  8. I've been playing around with my electrics install, still undecided. This is just a rough layout so far:

  10. It maybe old but it works and it works well the savage has been and will always be a good seller, theres plenty of folk that will walk into a shop see this and buy it over say the X Maxx imo Whats ridiculous about buying a tried and tested truck ? Dont just right it off because its old Im not really a savage fan to be honest myself but its great to see this hit the market again and i hope it sells like hot cakes as that in turn will create profit and may lead to investment into an X rival Way to go ripmax i say keep them coming

  12. I also have a Decaperm 12v, 8500 RPM, 5-pole with built in 2.75:1 gearbox motor for sale, in good condition, wires may want re-soldering, but the motor does work, it turns smooth, doesn't grind etc... Based on them retailing at £140, I'd like £55 posted for this.

  23. I know most of us probably do our own RC maintenance, but I thought I'd take the opportunity while switching from standard AR60 axle, to an SSD extended axle, to video the process and show those who aren't so confident, that it's not hard and you gain experience, it can also be fun. Just to be clear, in case you don't check the video description, I put the diff in backwards on purpose, I was meant to talk about how easy it is to lose track when you've flipped your RC over and something to watch out for, unfortunately, I completely forgot to talk about it! I'm only 6 away from 150 subscribers now, which I set as a goal, I'd really really appreciate it if you'd hit the subscribe button and even like/share my content!

  24. Glad to see it back but those wheel nuts, really! Shame on you hpi for being so cheap and lazy. A few extra pounds spent in production could have meant so much. And the shell could have done with some thought at least.

  25. That's precisely the stuff I bought for my X-Maxx. Body's still in paint. Plan was to tape, Shoo Goo, then also spray the inside - make as 'super-tough' as possible. Can't answer - yet - but great minds .... Al.

  30. HPI to me were like Tamiya Models to the older folk. The older folk looked in Beaties and in the Tamiya Catalogue wanting everything. I did the same looking through the HPI catalogue dreaming of one day having a HPI Proceed that did 70mph! I had a HPI Sport 1 RS4 at the time and went on to have a multitude of HPI models. Im a big fan of HPI and was gutted when they ran into financial problems. However, if all theyve got to offer is an archaic Savage and some Q32 toys then maybe they should just stay gone...

  31. I anticipated this exact reply.... Yet aren't Traxxas doing something about the Xmaxx for example, adding the fuse wire (lol) initially within a few months of release? Now we have an 8S upgrade pack within the year. The Savage has been around one and half decades and HPI havent addressed ANY of it....

  41. The stage was set for 1986 to be a very exciting season. Defending champion Timo Salonen had the new Evolution 2 version of Peugeot's 205 T16 with ex Toyota driver, Juha Kankkunen. Audi's new Sport Quattro S1 boasted over 600 hp (450 kW) and a huge snowplough-like front end. Lancia's Delta S4 would be in the hands of the Finnish prodigy Henri Toivonen and Markku Alen, and Ford was ready with its high tech RS200 with Stig Blomqvist and Kalle Grundel. On the "Lagoa Azul" stage of the Portuguese Rally near Sintra everything went tragically wrong. Portuguese national champion Joaquim Santos crested a rise, turning to his right to avoid a small group of spectators. This caused him to lose control of his RS200. The car veered to the right and slid off the road into the spectators. Thirty-one people were injured and three were killed. All the top teams immediately pulled out of the rally and Group B was placed in jeopardy. Lancia Delta S4. Disaster struck again in early May at the Tour de Corse. Lancia's Toivonen was a championship favorite, and once the rally got underway he was the pace setter. Seven kilometres into the 18th stage, Toivonen's S4 flew off the unguarded edge of a tightening left hand bend and plunged down a steep wooded hillside. The car landed inverted with the fuel tanks ruptured by the impact. The combination of red hot turbocharger, Kevlar bodywork, and ruptured fuel tank ignited the car and set fire to the dry undergrowth. Only a cloud of smoke and the lack of Toivonen's car at the finish indicated that something was very wrong. By the time rescue workers made it to the remote spot (some 30 minutes, by some accounts) all that remained of the car was a blackened frame. Toivonen and co-driver Sergio Cresto were found outside the car, they were thrown out and rolled over by the car. With no witnesses to the accident it was impossible to determine what caused the crash other than Toivonen had left the road at high speed. Some cite Toivonen's ill health at the time (he reportedly was suffering from flu); others suggest mechanical failure, or simply the difficulty of driving the machine although Toivonen had a career full of crashing out while leading rallies. Up until that stage he was taking stage win after stage win and leading the rally by a large margin with no other driver challenging him. The crash came a year after Lancia driver Attilio Bettega had crashed and died in his 037. While that fatality was largely blamed on the unforgiving Corsican scenery (and bad luck, as his co-driver, Maurizio Perissinot was uninjured), Toivonen and Cresto's death, combined with the Portugal tragedy and televised accident of F1 driver Marc Surer in another RS200 which killed co-driver Michel Wyder, compelled the FIA to act: Group B cars were immediately banned for 1987. Audi decided to quit Group B entirely after Corsica. The final days of Group B would also be controversial. The Peugeots were disqualified from the Rally San Remo by the Italian scrutineers as the 'skirts' around the bottom of the car were deemed to be illegal. Peugeot immediately accused the Italians of favouring the Lancias. Their case was strengthened at the next event, the RAC Rally, when the British scrutineers passed the Peugeots as legal in identical trim. France based FISA annulled the result of the San Remo Rally eleven days after the final round in America. As a result, the championship title was passed from Lancia's Markku Alen to Peugeot's Juha Kankkunen. Timo Salonen had won another two rallies during the 1986 season and became the most successful group B era driver with a total of 7 wins.

  42. No one with sense surely! Its far too old and late for this now unfortunately. I am a HUGE Savage fan, but entering the market for one now is, in my opinion a ridiculous idea. The best news about this is hopefully people who already have Savages will get a new lease of support in terms of spare parts.
