  1. Dlux Fab have sucessfully modded the housing to fit a bigger bearing, so shouldn't cause as many issues, only problem is they are based in the USA, but I'm sure someone here in the UK could do it with a bench drill/CNC machine, quote from somewhere else: "I sent this off to Erik a few weeks ago to see if he could find a way to install a larger inboard pinion bearing in it, and he did! It has a 5x13 bearing now instead of the stock 5x10 bearing. That should hold up much, much better. Unfortunately he couldn't figure out how to enlarge the inboard pinion bearing slot in the front diff case, but it's the rear axle that really needs help, so I'm happy."

  2. Finally completed the 'refit' of the TXT-2 'Bigfoot'. Replaced all alloy links with Vanquish 3/16 titanium M4 threaded links. Replaced all so-called heavy duty RC4WD alloy rod ends with G-Made rod ends. Replaced the Savox 1256TG servos with Bluebird H50C helical servos. It's a bit '3-dimensional' but necessary to avoid the links. I can now increase the voltage as well as I have a 20A S-BEC which goes up to 8.4V I think. I'll leave it at 6.0V for now - servos are nearly twice as torquey as the 1256TG's!! I won't be using it much, and certainly won't be 'bashed hard' but a little wary the servos are 'direct' now - no saver. PHOTOS: Front linkages - C/F mounting - longer throw servo horn: Rear linkages - C/F mounting - shorter throw servo horn: I have another longer throw horn if necessary, but the idea is to give some partial rear steering, not be too dramatic, so as not to 'upset' it too much. The rear servo is on a 3-way 3rd channel and can operate independently. Both servos are using M4 threaded turnbuckles, so can be fine-tuned if necessary irrespective of trim - this is more for the rear servo. A very brief trial seemed quite successful - will try tomorrow at least in the garden, if the heaven's don't open!! Al.

  3. Modded AR60 housing (for Wraith/Bomber) http://www.dluxfab.com/#!/Modified-Wraith-Bomber-Housings/p/32422412/category=12405705 They also do one for the front diff housing of the Yeti: http://www.dluxfab.com/#!/Modified-Axial-EXO-Yeti-Housing-bulk-head/p/37366129/category=12405705 And one for the SCX10: http://www.dluxfab.com/#!/Modified-AX10-SCX10-Housings/p/36153197/category=12405706 They ship worldwide, bought stuff from Erik and he's great to deal with, and if you ask nicely he will sometimes mark as low value for customs, he doesn't charge over the top for shipping either.

  5. I doubt that, but tbh, it depends what you like in an RC. For me, the Yeti couldn't be any better, but if someone doesn't really like the Yeti and buys this, then they may think it's a lot better. There's also the group of people who jazz things up because it was free or 'borrowed' And the other group of people who don't like to admit they made a mistake and claim something is great lol. It's hard to really get a good idea of what something is like without using it yourself.

  9. Now this is not a definite for sale, just putting it out there to see if there's any interest. I have come to the realisation that this won't get used to it's full potential as I won't be racing due to lack of time and other hobbies, so I would prefer to have a basher (Monster truck preferably). This was bought new as a kit from Modelsport in November, and didn't even see 2 full packs of use. It has minor scratches on the front shock tower and front shock caps, and on the bottom of the chassis, as you can see in the photos, also the battery tray has 2 slots cut in it so it fits 2 x 2s lipos as per pictures. I am willing to part with it as a roller with spares (listed) and the 2 pairs of wheels that come in the box but no tyres for £280, this does include postage, but not fees. ARTR with the below electrics, you will need your own battery, Tx/Rx and tyres £460, again includes postage but not fees. I would potentially trade for a basher, 1/8 scale preferable, monster truck preferred. Electrics: Tekin RX8 Gen2 ESC (4mm bullets to fit 2 x 2s lipos) Tekin T8 1900kv Motor (currently geared 15/45) Savox 1256tg Servo Spares: Screws / Nuts Metal Spur Some rubber boots and o-rings Diff Case All extras that came with the kit (sway bars etc...) It has been set up stock, but the shocks are emulsion with 40wt front, 35wt rear, build thread here, no stripped screws or anything, as you can see from the pictures it has had virtually no use.

  12. Depends, i clean my x2 after each run so dont think i need them, if u can get some sheet plastic and using cable ties try make some wheel arch type things to cable tie onto the roll cage. Ideally the more ***** u can keep outta the x2 the better, i ended up buying cheap plastic folders from poundland and using the main cover to make the covers. I also got some mesh for the front window and rear cage which i also cable tied on, it all helps as when u start zooming about ya not arsed about the state of it untill its cleaning up time

  13. i would also get the cover thing for the pullstart and air filter from rcmodelz, think they do them for about a fiver each

  14. Much better. The Outback certainly does well for a stock budget crawler. Only needs a few cheap and easy upgrades to make it an excellent crawler. John

  15. Indeed! I am hoping the larger tyres will help, plus I have geared it up, to get a bit more wheel speed. Next time will show if it is any better!... but not the next video I upload, because that was recorded before the changes were made! These are the wheels/tyres I've gone for... cheapy cheapy, but I think they will help! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1Set-5-Spoke-Wheel-Rim-100mm-Tires-for-RC1-10-Off-Road-Climbing-Rock-Crawler-Car-/282094217613?hash=item41ae20298d:g:SOoAAOSwEjFXf3Lz Thank you, sir! Yes, Matthew is, as I've said many a-time before... a twonk! Yes. This. Absolutely, this!

  16. Right, powerhd 20kg wp servo on the way, along with new boots and wheels C/o our very own Ostewart. Now, I did stick two pairs of the NR01 wheels in my basket with the servo (RCMart) but hadn't got tyres....so I'll either sell the wheels on or keep them for 'something' down the line....

  17. Just thought I'd update this with a random picture Only thing I've done is temporarily fit the rear wing as it maybe going up for sale, all depends on whether I want to give on road a go or get 5ive B and go back to off road.

  19. Dlux Fab done the same mod for the AR60 axles on the Wraith and it sorted the bearing issue out well

  20. If it cures the issue, ones cap is doffed. Also read that the Rey handles better than the Score, seemed good in videos, though the Score looks better to me, lol...

  23. My comment wasn't directed at you I just don't like the look of it and I like my Yeti, so it would be totally backwards to get rid of an RC I enjoy, to purchase one that 'maybe' just as good lol. Can't see it being as good fun as a Yeti myself, but I'll await some proper reviews.

  27. Surely my queries about this is displaying an interest in purchasing the items. What made you decide to delete my posts r.m, t info contained in them was useful, no only to myself, but also to any others looking to purchase. Or am I not aloud to post questions to obtain the validity that these items are genuine and this is a genuine sale... Without you deleting my posts like some thread nazi I could understand if the guy had been on hre a while, or at least based in this country. Thanks r.m, keep up the good work

  33. Charged up the battery last night - HK Nanotech 5Ah 65-130C 2S. Motor is 'Chinese CC 2650Kv' - runs great. Playing with the gears permitted running Mod 1 in the gearbox, and increasing the gearing perhaps 30%. It's not mega-fast - perhaps 25-30 mph maximum but powerful. I think I can put the longer throw servo arm on the rear steer - this is with the shorter throw on rear, longer throw on the main / front wheels. Servos operating in reverse to Savox ones, so there's a 'pregnant pause' 3/4 through when I reverse the steering then give it more throttle near the end. Running as well as possible I reckon!! Al.

  36. My mates still got his (somewhere). I have a few vague memories watching the build and I always remember just how many metal parts were involved with it. It has some weight to it! The first ever RC I laid eyes on. I've seen the odd one come up on eBay for mega money (he's gutted he can't find it now!)

  37. Yes but not the cars... Took my little Eachine H8 quad out in the garden on high rates, not sure you can have more fun than this and still have change from a tenner...

  38. A tamiya Lamborghini cheetah - my old man had one in the late 70's (jeez that sounds a LONG time ago...), and it's what got me hooked on RC, so probably the most significant RC there is, in my book at least!

  39. Have to be a custom tube chassis, like the BGR Fab U4, decked out with highend parts from Vanquish, Supershafty etc. http://bgrfabrications.com/index.php?id_product=45&controller=product And if I didn't all ready have a 1/5 I would get a 5ive B
    1 point
  40. I gather allot of that is because of the dirt and water thrown up into the bearing itself mixed with uneven pressure. I know the YXL one will wear due to that, and the housing itself warping over time. I did read that the baja Rey axle is a little thin but if things pick up, perhaps Vanquish will release a version.

  43. Just be aware some wheels will not work with some tyres! the obvious being rc4wd wheels and proline tyres. tyre wise you want a tread pattern that will clear itself going by your said usage too. you know now where I am mate should you need any help.
