  2. I was gathering parts to build another SCX10 Hilux but wasn't really feeling the build having build two previously. So I sold up all the parts I had collected and started saving for this RC4WD Beast II kit as I've fancied one for quite a while. Big thanks goes to Martin at RC Bitz, awesome service & always a pleasure to deal with. My kit arrived yesterday (21/12/16) and I made a start to the build last night. Having a 18 month old baby does restrict my building time but I'm not in any rush to get it together. I still need to decide on an esc & motor. The obligatory new box pic, love the box art: The 3 axles which I've stripped, cleaned, shimmed, greased and reassembled using thread-lock. Only the front & rear axles needed shimmed, the centre axle was ok: That's it for now, I'll hopefully have time to strip & grease the transmission & transfer case tonight. Then maybe start assembling the chassis

  4. Punch control sets the amount of 'oomph' the car has under acceleration. In laymans terms, yes it will wheelie more but will also wear down drivetrain parts like cups and dogbone pins quicker. As always, More Fun = More downtime... EDIT as this is a frankenstein car id up it slowly stage by stage until you find a sweet spot that wont (quite) kill the drivetrain

  6. Little run around the car park this morning. Not exactly blinding speed but then it is brushed (for now). Handles fairly well though and fast enough to have some fun with. Flipped it over a few times and ran into a couple of things but nothing broke or came unscrewed. John

  7. Seems to me over the years with most places, people, businesses, politicians etc think........ The U.k. population are like sheep, take it up the ass, let things go, and a bunch of muppets. No more I tells ya.. Get these companies and ring their freekin' necks, should be FOC to the V1 this stuff. Has cost the price of the truck again to keep fixing it already. With the way warranty (lack off) has been. Poor quality product. Lack of u.k. support. Lack of u.k. parts. Updated needed parts prob not hitting u.k. I reckon trading standards would love this.

  13. Fitted tightened some steering components. Fitted some body posts And fitted a cheap carnage lid to it so i can properly test without filling it with mud. It actually ressembles a vehicle now [emoji1] I've got 2 5200mah 2s lipos charged up and ready for a run out. Will have to see what temps are like now with a lid on her. 14. Yes, those would do nicely. However they are shorter than the stock ball connectors, so you'd need some standoffs to space them away from the plastic parts to preserve the stock geometry. A small stack of 3mm washers would do the trick, or if you are feeling flush and fancy a neater solution, these look nice: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/262751061617

  15. The strongest solution would be to get a bolt-through style ball connector, a spacer and a 3mm steel bolt to go all the way through the steering arm from the bottom, but that would mean either a new steering arm or somehow removing the broken threaded portion from your original. That said, I suspect your crash was a bit of an anomaly in terms of how things broke. I have never broken mine like that. Even on my racing M-03 which also uses those ball connectors, it has been the plastic parts that have broken, not the connector.

  16. The power increase is down to the extra voltage of 8s. If you get the power up kit and stick to 6s, you wont necessarily gain any performance from what you have now, it just should be more reliable. The new esc maybe more efficient and reliable allowing you to say on 6s and gear up moe maybe? The extra 20mph is down to the extra 8s voltage and a gearing change. THe rest of the parts beef up the drivetrain

  17. Couple of more bits arrived today- My cheap light bar from china and my two jerry cans. The lights are temporarily mounted using cable ties but i think they are sitting a tad to high so im going to remove the mounting brackets and tie the light bar straight to the roll bar. 20161222_195051-01 by Stuart Pardue, on Flickr 20161222_195249-01 by Stuart Pardue, on Flickr

  27. Took the kyosho axxe to the park with our 4 year old. Poor little sod slipped on a manhole cover & stuck gimself in the nose with the "antenna" nub. Thank god it aint an old style one. Once the bleeding stopped we found a good spot, then some twonks came & stood there. So we went & jumped it down the steps. He managed somehow to jump it up some steps too

  28. Losi shocks fitted. Went on with no trouble.Just had to drill out the upper mounting hole in the shocks slightly for the mounting screws. It does reduce the ride height by about 3mm though. No problem with the MT but could be a bit too much for the rally. Shocks are stiffer than stock so bottoming out shouldn't be a problem. No time for a test run though today though as I'm off out for the afternoon. John

  31. You can use gt85 on electrics, good for moisture displacement on circuits. Although like wd40 (same company makes both) they contain a high amount of solvent, which can dissolve/ aid degradation for certain types or rubber. I personally use dry Teflon based lubes, like these Most Teflon based dry lubes are best, as all they do is lube and contain significantly less solvents, they also don't attract dirt like wet stuff does

  32. Well it wont be The filter itself stopping it from starting, you've probably gone all "Jason Pollock " with the air filter oil and over oiled the filter, blocking the pores on the filter gauze and therefore starving the engine of oxygen

  33. Depends on the accessory ive found. Often wing mirrors can be poked through a drilled hole and a body clip to secure them. If you screw them on use something to spread the load like a washer. Also you could use sticky pads. Stuff may fall off if you roll or crash hard but that creates a break point saving the body and hopefully the accessory Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

  35. Coupons work on parts so? I know id end up paying $475 and not having a esc rebate but hey. There isnt an rc i wouldnt rightly or wrongly modify. All ive done with the x is an esc and gears. Ive spent more thab the Power Up kit costs upgrading a Slash for example....

  37. Sorry for butting in here... I feel like that FID DH comparison is a little unfair though, because yes, it's not only Traxxas that like to rip people off, BUT the FID DH hasn't failed in many departments has it? IE; They've added some upgrades on the V2 and increased the price, but those parts weren't actually needed, like the Xmaxx? I spoke to a chap on YouTube about this, he owns and likes his Xmaxx, but even he can see how badly Traxxas are behaving and agrees with me. You chaps who've had your pants pulled down with V1s should receive all the necessary upgrades FOC to keep them going (for those who have blown ESCs immediately and done the gears..) and for them to release some kind of 'upgrade' kit, for an extortionate price and then say it won't be available to you suckers in the UK It just seems unfair to me on the chaps who bought them in good faith, but if people let it happen, I guess they'll continue to do it.

  42. From my experience of the gt24r, id say it needs more ground clearance, and the truggy has that extra ground clearance. Other than that, just buy one, the're great fun Also, cats love 'em
