Popular Post henzy190
There has been an ever-expanding number of Trophy owners... and after I wrote a review on my Truggy, I think it's only fair to make an owners club! Post here pics of your car, hop-ups and tell us what you broke! Also, if you need advice, feel free to post away! And why not check out the for sales section... Originally we were just for the Trophy 4.6 Truggy, but as the Trophy 3.5 Buggy is so similar, we let them in too!! And HPI are also releasing electric versions of the cars, who are going to be welcome here!!Some advice that keeps popping up: > When you purchase a new car, the ride height will be very low. There should be some plastic semi-circles that came with the car. You need to clip them onto the shock body above the springs. This raises the ride height significantly! They can be adjusted to set ride height wherever you want, by adding more or less of them. (Note to HPI, if you're reading this: PLEASE put this in the manual! Also, you owe me money for the amount of customer support work that I've done for you, just sayin' )> There seems to be a minor fault in that the screw that holds the servo arm comes loose... all you need to do is tighten it up and threadlock. If you don't a nasty shock will come your way! It happens to everyone, literally! > The clutch that comes stock will eventually (10 tanks?) need replacing, this is what we recommend: (its an aluminium 3-shoe Hong Nor for under 20 quid) - Shoes + Springs: click - Flywheel: click - Nut: clickOliyum also wrote us a great guide on how to re-fit the new setup. Also, continuing the clutch theme, DON'T USE HONG NOR REDS. They vapourise!! > A fantastic list of hop-ups can be found here, it also includes non-HPI stuff: http://www.beatyourt...ium-hop-up-list > If you have lost your manual, then you can find online versions here for any HPI product: http://www.hpieurope...ons.php?lang=en> I have been having problems with my engine mounting screws rattling loose (the short cross headed ones.) Needed longer 20mmX4mm countersunk-head screws and threadlock. > If you're going to bash a lot then the 17mm hex upgrade isn't a bad idea. Full part list: - 2X Wheel hex nut: click - Rear axle shaft: click - Front UJ: click - 3x17mm shaft: click - 4X 5x4mm grubscrews > If you plan to keep using the stock SF-2 servo, then there are two (blue?) cable ties that hold the wire onto the upper chassis body mount posts. Remove them, else the wire will get damaged and short out. > A clutch bell upgrade is never a bad idea!! It is difficult to go above a 17t clutch bell, although 17t is a good ratio anyhow. > Converting your car? Here's the Trophy Flux motor mount: http://www.modelspor...products/366003Quotes Took the TT out earlier for last bash before i strip and put fancy ali parts on, going great, flat out when i heard a thump and a evil whumping noise come from it. Cut the engine and took it home to see what's what but had to go out before i could investigate further. I shouldn't have left it 3hrs, the house stinks and the noise was the remains of a slow worm that is now intergral to the center diff, drive shafts (front and rear) and is what i would call well done around the exhaust! I feel ill! Post away! Edited August 7, 2013 by henzy190

msg
This is a good idea. I've not got one yet, but after driving one of our members on Sunday, one is definitely on my list. Heres some pics of Stuarty's, I'll need to get him on here as well His is totally stock for now. All he has broken is the servo saver, some of my snazzy super glue fixed it enough for him to get a bit of run time at the track till he gets a couple of new ones. Theres a wee vid of it in the videos section as well.

HUNTER.P
wheel hex conversion is unecessary and a waste of money

Good point, thats something I could do with doing, do you know what parts are needed? If you can get them off of Modelsport then that'll be brill. HUNTER.P
no not really, there is nothing wrong with the stock axles. Just find some savave ones on ebay. I got 8 for a couple of quid. They work fine with the truggy
DSTMike
do roto starts fit well, or do you have to modify to make it work? love these trucks, and really want one
HUNTER.P
do roto starts fit well, or do you have to modify to make it work? love these trucks, and really want one No they fit right on. But when it comes down to the shaft. The shorter one can be used but its awkward and sometime slips out. Cutting a bit of the rear bumper can solve this. Or you can get the xl shaft
henzy190
do roto starts fit well, or do you have to modify to make it work? love these trucks, and really want one They'll work fine and are easier, apart from me not wanting to carry a heavy drill around with me. Or you can use a starter box.
henzy190
Has anyone here got a 3-shoe clutch? And do metal shoes help? They're much more expensive, but worth it? I've had clutch problems recently, it seems to "drag." It's been taken apart and looks fine, the spring is still on one piece and it looks ok apart from the odd bit of wear.
